One thing I noticed about Sachin

Tell me one batsman who can deliver on the day you tell him to make a hundred. Really stupid statement about pressure affecting him negatively when he has delivered before on such hype and situations. Heres what happen nds with sachin. We remember his failures more than his success. For example no one will say laxman failed to save this match. Or that dravids hundred was in a losing cause. We notice their successes. we notice sachns failures..

+1.. every Indian loss produces 4-5 Sachin bashing threads. Whereas for this match, I would say Dravid and Laxman were more responsible for 'not saving' the match - or say not performing under pressure. Both were in form, perfectly fit, took crease on 5th say and 'known' to be 'better' performer under pressure in 4th innings and so on... and yet both got out to irresponsible shots. if these two could have seen through the lunch ( when both were capable and in form), we could have saved it. And yet it was only sachin who 'failed' to perform under pressure. Imagine, had Sachin scored 100 in the first innings ( instead of dravid), and leaving everything else same ( i.e. losing the match) - we would have seen barrage of posts on Sachin's selfish century, or how his century affected team's psychology negatively eventually resulting in a loss.

I've never really agreed with the idea of "selfish play" Just because a player takes time to get settled and build a solid innings does not make him selfish

I can't understand why people get their undies in a twist every time there's a Sachin thread that discusses his batting style. No one was even criticising him, it's an observation, and a right one at that. I've not been dissing him, ffs so stop trying to roleplay as some kind of fascist cop on here. And as for the others saying he's played well under pressure- someone rightly said there's a difference between carrying the burden of a billion or more fans and dealing with a pressure cooker situation on the field. Sachin is just someone who is his best when he's in his natural element, playing with flair and a carefree attitude, and that pretty much goes for most players in our team, not just him- save for a few. Like I said, there are some who play sublimely under immense pressure, but that doesn't mean I'm upping them on some kind of pedestal. If someone had started a thread about Dhoni also going into his shell and unsuccessfully trying his hand at defense rather than his usual strokeplay, I would have made the same observations about him. So what now, does that make me a Dhoni hater? Spare me the tripe.

So, my guess was correct and I am not even surprised. That was the easiest way I could have stated the obvious. So according to you, when Sachin makes a 100, he is not under pressure because you feel that he is playing carefree cricket? I say whenever he makes a 100 he is under tremendous pressure and his knocks ease off pressure on the other players which defines a champion player for me. Obviously a player is going to look good when he makes a 100. It's a test game for god's sake, defense is the key ingredient in success (exclude viru ). He could have gone on to make a big total if he had not played that one bad shot and you would have been jumping all over the place praising him. It's not anything new for some people to swing back and forth and you seem to be one of them. So one time he gets dropped 4 times against Pakistan and many have drawn a conclusion that he can't bat longer unless if he gets a life. What? What? are you Pakistani? This is so dumb that I can't even describe it. So the sun is shining during the day and then at night you see a moon which is not close to as shiny. Only a dumb person would jump to conclusions to say that sun has lost its shine. How about wait till the day to see the sun shine again? What is up with so called "fans" jumping to conclusions after may be two or three games? give the guy some space to breath at least. Sachin is still the champion he has always been and he is just as good if not better than ever before. Please don't expect him to score a 100 each and every game.
