Is our batting over rated?

I mean seriously this is something that need to be discussed. Obviously our bowlers take alot of heat (as they should) but IMO considering Indias main strength is in batting why is it that no one really complains about them? This was a flat pitch and our batting failed to score 300+ twice. And this is not one off moment. In the last test series we relied on a rare 50 from bhajji to save our asses from the west indies. And before that we got destroyed on a flat pitch in south africa. Sure India got screwed with the damp pitch but it flattened out considerably. Plus loosing on that pitch in sri lanka despite loosing so many overs to rain. And having dale steyn run though us in India on another flat pitch. that's 4 recent test matches we lost because the batting failed to bat out on a flat pitch.

It was not a collapse.This batting was not different from WI team.Only difference Gambhir replaced Vijay,Tendulkar replaced Kohli and .................. replaced Munaf Patel.AND THEY DID NOT SCORE.Hence we got the same score we got in WI.

The pitch actually flattened out considerably while India was still batting.I thought Bhajji was gonna make another century before he got run out he was middling everything. If the specialist hung around for a while longer in the 1st inning they could have posted a decent total IMO.I don't think Injuries should be any kind of excuse considering the fact that its Indias own fault that our players aren't as fit as the English or the aussies. Saha being selected I agree with you on that. saha being selected a specialist batsman over so many more qualified batsman was a joke. The funny thing is that people criticize Indians for being flat pitch bullies but the problem is that we aren't big enough flat pitch bullies because we loose so often on flat pitches.

Over the years, but this has been a consistent trend with the Indian team going back for a while. This Batting line up is supposed to be one of greatest of all time. IMO India will still win this series though. So I not a wrist slitter. I am merely pointing something out that people choose to ignore for some reason.

I think India will struggle during this series due to their lack of fitness unless they keep winning the tosses

Sorry, that pitch didn't flatten out that much on the first day. India then did outstandingly to score 450 in the second innings despite being faced with a 480-run deficit. As for injuries not being an excuse, well when you lose three of your top six batsmen at once, then it is a bit too much to handle.

A glaring fault in his technique and he will be just another rubbish player that England are so famous for producing,

I have to agree with you that he is no Tendulkar. I think he might score more runs than that though. I think he will fix the fault and be a good player but not exceptional like Tendulkar. Trott on the otherhand has the ability and mindset to be a great

Overrated? By whom? Generally overrated players are overrated by supporters or group of people. If Indian batting was overrated, then opposition captain would have been so worried about it.

Trott is your best batsman technically. Though KP is favorite.
