Why is no one blaming BCCI?

Over the course of the last two tests, I have seen the media, fans & ex-players (Ganguly) blast the cricketers. However, what has been absent is a criticism of BCCI. Players have no rights to schedule the tours. Its BCCI. We play IPL when we ought to be resting. Again BCCI's fault. We have a break of 10 days now in between the 2nd and 3rd test but only a week's break between the WI & England tour. Again BCCI's fault. Shouldn't there be pressure on BCCI too to be accountable to fans? If we expect heads to roll in the Indian team, why not in BCCI? Why is Sreekanth immune when he had the brain fart to pick only two openers or pick an unfit Zaheer? Yet, yesterday I heard Ganguly blasting the preparation of the team, the buffoon Holding questioning the commitment of our National players and Gavaskar lamenting the fact that the players were not hungry enough. With this crazy schedule, how do you expect players to be hungry?

Truth is politicians will follow money and there's no better money-generator than cricket in India so I guess get ready for the day when BCCI is full of politicians and cricket is run by govt like other sports.

I am not expecting any change. I am just wondering why nobody has the b**ls to question BCCI Nobody in the media. I am sure if the Media creates some pressure, some big heads in BCCI would also roll. Ok Lets breakup BCCI into adminsitrators,businessmanagers,selectors and staff,players As administrators they are doing a wonderful job proven by the recently concluded WC and even the IPL:Who cares if you and I were not interested the fact that the tournament got completed without a hiccup makes it a success As business managers:Enough said,the made this into a money-making juggernaut,Coaches,Players,Staff everyone makes enough money Selectors:This is debatable Players:This is debatable So if you are inclining towards the administrators you are wrong,blame the selectors and the players.If Zaheer gets a fitness certificate he is partly to blame along with the fitness expert who approved him where is BCCI to blame for this or neither was any player blackmailed or threatened to play the IPL.

Administrators are also responsible for scheduling the series and giving us the best chance to win while finalizing the schedule. IPL kicked off just 5 days after the WC resulting in fatigue & injuries to most of our key players, WI series started just 6 days after IPL and we were fortunate to win it with our 2nd XI, and now one of the most important series this year (Eng) which may affect our ranking was held just a few days from WI series and that too with barely a practice game in between. Don't you think Administrators deserve flak for such sort of scheduling where the focus is on IPL and cramming as many matches/series as possible and not enough emphasis given to ensure India is in the best state to perform at least for the marquee series.

They let go of golden opportunities not once, but twice, and came across as completely disinterested, save for a few players. As far as the team's performance in the 2 Tests goes, you can't blame the BCCI. That said, they have to be held accountable for the totally skewed priorities and haphazard schedules.

The fatigue factor excuse is bull. Everyday, millions of people wake up and go to work. They hardly get rest. They work their ass off to make two ends meet. They never give this fatigue factor excuse. They go to work and try to do their best at what they are doing. Some of our players took rest before this series. What happened to them ? Zak went out in the first innings of first test. Where is the fitness. Or may be he thought that rest means 100 % bed rest. People have simply lost motivation. They get enough money for their 5 generations to survive. There is no fight for existence. That's what it is. I am not taking BCCIs side. I believe that they are wrong somewhere too. But the current debacle needs to go to players. The way they are playing, I think they should select random 11 people from this forum and send them to England. There is no question of performance, at least people will get free tour of England and some money.

They had the same (almost same) amount of money when they were playing the WC. They looked motivated to me then. I believe they are tired. The way the players are falling like nine pins is a proof of that. Thats why I blame the BCCI.

As for the IPL- it's as much the players' fault for choosing to play the IPL rather than opting out and getting ready for the Test season ahead as it is the BCCI's fault for creating such choc-a-bloc schedules.

There's a big difference between the World Cup and Test cricket. The World Cup is an ODI tournament - and our team is well-suited to that format and its demands. Test cricket is another ballgame altogether - our players, especially our batsmen, were ruthlessly exposed. Test cricket requires tremendous temparement, staying power, concentration, judgement. It is physically and mentally draining. Besides, our younger batsmen are not equipped enough to deal with the short ball. All this makes a comparison between the World Cup, or for that matter, ODIs and Test cricket a meaningless exercise. Dhoni can complain about scheduling but he is only partly right. He is camouflaging some other serious issues - like skills and fitness. For me, the real star in this side - and maybe the one bright spot on a bleak tour - is the one we talk least about. Praveen Kumar. We need more players with his type of heart.
