I have no problems with the police imposing curfew and detaining people. However I cannot support brutal action like army' date=' shooting people etc. That is not right whichever way you argue it.[/quote'] Do you really think a curfew and being detained for a couple of days will be enough of a deterent for them not to do it again the following week/month? Who says we want them killed? Using force doesn't equate to getting them killed!! If brave policemen on the streets are fighting against yobs with baseball bats/knifes/samarai swords and are getting run over by by yobs driving cars, surely you can cut them some slack if they use their baton to defend themselves if not others!!

Now that tells some story
Seriously, respek! I know nothing about the actual ground realities of the race equation in UK. I never thought it was like the way it is in the US. But man this is some news - I feel rather safe and cherish my freedom and rights in Bangalore. Never knew UK had such a large amount of black population. Now imagine if the UK jihadi community joins hands with the rioters. Damn that would be a nightmare I think they should introduce curfew and stuff like that. Probably use some force to end the riot but mind you if the middle class population use this riot as an example and start calling for stricter control and force by the state in general then you would have walked straight into the elites' trap. Already the UK is such a highly policed country with big brother watching you 24*7 and on top of that if you give license to the state like the patriot act then you can kiss goodbye to meaningful freedom. All said and done, just can't relate to the kind of upheaval happening there.

Is this pent up frustration at social inequality being vented' date=' or just nutjobs doing their thang...[/quote'] If UK is anything like US, the former has at least something to do with the riots. People are fed up with no jobs and the trickle down economy is not working. Jobs are leaving to other countries, so there are no jobs for youngsters. Kids are asked to get college education to get job, but it is prohibitively expensive (in US). Even then not everyone has an iq of 140 plus, but there are only two kind of jobs in US - for people with low IQ and for people with high IQ. Those in the medium just toil with low end jobs. So far there is almost enough jobs for everyone, but the direction its heading is towards worse.

It is not like riots are common in London, is it? Why would you think it would keep happening?

But shooting people is not.

O Mr. Che Guevara' date=' weren't you the one advocating that Indians should rip up our constitution and go after the corrupt in India? How forked our tongue is when we have to talk about something closer home, hey? Call in the army and shoot the brigands, is it? You hypocrite!![/quote'] I owned you in that one and will own you now. :giggle: Protesting peacefully and putting pressure on govt through peacefull means is one thing. Going on the rampage and destroying anything in sight is another. These bad boys are just nutters wanting fun and destruction. No doubt you back these gangsters cause! Pathetic comparison by you! You should be ashamed that you support the hooodies cause

Idiots like these need to be shot. Its people like gunner who cry everytime a policiemen so much as give some one a wrong look that are to blame. As they have resulted in the police being to scared to take proper forcefull action cos someone like gunner will video it and say look how brutal police is. Police need to get in there and break legs of these scum. The public will support it, apart from hoodies apologists. It also looks like police are right in focusing stop and searches on these kinds of scum, as you can see the type of hoodlums they are.

Your the one who tried to compare the lokpal bill public peaceful protests in India , to this rampage. Strange that you are anti lokpal protests(peaceful) but pro rampage scum actions!

Sure people will support it but it won't be the right thing. Populist reactions are usually driven by anger and not clear thinking. What you are suggesting will create us Vs them and an all out war. You will never solve the problem with that approach.

I said the constitution must prevail and all actions should be within the confines of the constitution. I still believe that and this is the way it should be. I wasn't against the lokpal bill, I was against non-elected people attempting to draft it. What makes you think i am pro-rioting? :haha::haha:

Bit of heavy hand and it would've stopped right on the first day. Compare this with the action Delhi police took today against the BJP Youth wing members during their protests which turned bit ugly. Teargas, Water Canon and "light laathi charge" helped in "controlling" the matter.. To take care of the legal issues, just impart Police restrictions or curfeu..THose who break those restrictions cannot claim legal redress against any resulting police actions..

King Tendlya, I think you are being unfair to Gunna here. it is one thing to disagree with his point of view and quite another to generalize and paint him with such a broad brush. I note that in this thread Gunna also said something like "people like xyz...." and I don't agree with that either. Let's not see all that is evil to us in the opposite person just coz he disagrees with us on matters that cannot be viewed in black and white. Sorry for being preachy but just thought that a quick post like this can calm the tempers and keep ppl from getting carried away.

To my friend Gunner. See I am s*ck and tired of your view that Anna Hazare and company are ruining our democracy. Problem is you don't udnerstand the position and their viewpoint. They want several things to be included in the bill, and lot of ppl agree. Now they want this to be presented in the Parliament, Lokshaba and Rajyasabha, and they want debut on that. So I don't understand when you keep refering how they are ruining our democracy and they are not elected members. For f&cks sack no bill is drafted solely by elected ministers, its always experts from civil society.

The fact that you have compared and brought in to this people fasting out of protest against a corrupt govt shows your utter confusion.

It is not like riots are common in London' date=' is it? Why would you think it would keep happening?[/quote'] These aren't riots mate, this is thuggery/robbery plain and simple. And if these groups of people go around knowing full well that they chances of them being confronted and brought to justice are slim, than they will go around looting. Worse case scenario for them atm is being road blocked by the police, and in the slim chance that they are caught they know it will probably mean either a community service order or a very short prison sentence. Don't get me wrong, but these are small prices to pay. No shooting? What if they are carrying guns which is not uncommon with these lot? I mean, their not going around with knives to cut their oranges and apples.
