How can these countries actually take a shot at India when they obviously are no different. India has 1.2 billion people and I am sure they would still get a handle on the riots within 4 days. Yes The rest of the world should learn from us. India has always done a great job of controlling RIOTS before they get out of hand.

Good times for you. Ultimately winning matters, but don't you think your victory would have been much sweeter had it come against our full strength team?
Serani Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 Well the thing is you lot were all salivating at the fact that you had your strongest batting line up now fully assembled and yet again England bundled out the super stars, and lets be honest its the BCCI's fault for not preparing properly. And another point are england at full strength? Tremlett and Trott are injured and you cant tell because we have depth. Zaheer gets injured and suddenly you lot give up all hope, thats the difference between both sides.

England look like a team with a mission and purpose. They are fit and well prepared. I hope Indians introspect and try to address the problems. But I am afraid the scums at the top of BCCI are more concerned about making money than improving the team's chances at test level. Otherwise they would have learned by now that it's important to prepare for a big series like this one. This is not the first instance. But earlier the team used to find a way back somehow, not this time. Hope they learn a lesson from this drubbing which I fear they won't.

gaurav92 Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Well full strength or not, we played poorly and English bowlers took full advantage of it. We ere mentally unstable on this tour. We weren't at our best. But even our 80% side could have defeated the Poms, had we played like No.1

The reason your not playing like a No.1 team is quite simply that your not (in the sense of genuinely being the best team in world cricket)... having said this, i do agree that India could have made it a closer run thing, but i guess combination of poor preparation and age of some players/complacency is really taking its toll. its actually a pity because this series deserved more, could have been a classic like the 05 ashes back and forth battles, hopefully India can rally tomorrow (although England to still win please!).

Oh yes, playing at home, England definitely are the toughest side to beat. But let us not forget we weren't at our best, we were without proper match practice, some of our players came back from injuries and some ent midway after an injury. Not making excuses as there is no one to blame. But quite right, it would have been very tough to defeat you but I still have faith in my team. i am sure they would not have let it go after having them bundled out at 221 at TB. I was hopeful for an Indian score in excess of 400 when they were at 267/4 at one stage. We did well in patches, we had our moments but we were simply not good enough to win :(( But this same side will show a different performance once you travel here. I am sure we (wounded tigers) will be back into hunting ways

India played WC, break of 5 days, IPL, break of 6 days, WI series, break of 6 days with just one practice match thrown in and Eng series. It's BCCI's job to make sure that workload on the players is manageable as it's tough on bowlers (Ishant & PK especially) to play 7 Tests within a 6 week period. After sometime they looked totally jaded. IPL and heavy schedule is a reality we have to live with but BCCI should at least plan for marquee series away from home - SA, Aus and Eng. For these away series BCCI has to ensure that there's a gap/rest of 2-3 weeks ahead of the series and Indian players play 2 practice games to acclimatize. I am not saying India would have performed well given this sort of preparation but at least it would have given us the best chance to succeed. As for players not forced to play, everyone knows that BCCI did nothing to stop injured players from playing in IPL (Sehwag & Gambhir) as it would have hit IPL's popularity. These players are contracted by BCCI and a key stakeholder of Indian cricket and BCCI has to treat them as such, including managing them properly especially with respect to workload and injuries.

Also it seems theres a lack of talent coming through to replace them? so i dunno, could be interesting seeing how it pans out over the next year or so...

Cow***s Sunny has said the same... It 's worth remembering that In 1984/5 England toured India. Indira Ghandi was assassinated, there were riots in the streets with Sikhs being targeted (Ghandi was murdered by her Sikh bodyguards). The British cricketing press got caught up in one of the riots. England weren't able to train so they went to Sri Lanka. There was a bomb blast. England still played 2 matches in Sri Lanka before returning to India. They got to Bombay for the first test and were invited to supper with Deputy High Commissioner, Percy Norris. The next morning, 24 hours before the first Test, Norris was shot dead. In between the first and second tests was the Bhopal disaster. Gavaskar should remember this very well. He was the losing captain. England stayed and won the series from 1 down. :headshake:
