ranj Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 Does he play the next test? Will it depend on whether we win this match? Who replaces him if dropped? Why cant I play leg spin for sh*t in StickCricket? Answers on a postcard.

Guest dada_rocks Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 Re: Wasim Jaffer.... With jaffer/sehwag combo RD will be virtually openign in every game so why nto make it official and bring pathan in for this series at least
Inside_edge Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 Re: Wasim Jaffer.... yup, the quota candidate must be shown the door.IKP will be 10 fold better as an opener and his leg spin may as well be useful when Kumble is resting :hic:
gator Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 Re: Wasim Jaffer.... RD mus not open.... if Pathan replaces Jaffer, i would rather have Pathan open ala Prabhakar and Bangar(for a brief while)...
veer Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 Re: Wasim Jaffer.... i would go with veeru and srt as openers.. or just bring in gambhir..
Mandrake Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 Re: Wasim Jaffer.... Vengsarkar will see to it that Jaffar plays next test too....what a disaster jafar has been so far in this series...not even reached double figures in any innings-odi,warmup and now test....and still he plays ahead of Pathan or gambhir.... :wall:
Inside_edge Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 Re: Wasim Jaffer.... This guy is is playing for the same reason as the other chutiya in p@kiand- Faisal whatever. These Arakshan candidates :wall: should be nowhere near overseas team
Sooda Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 Re: Wasim Jaffer.... If Jaffer is dropped it should be Gambhir opening Id give him another test anyway. He did well to see off the new ball in the 1st innings...
ranj Posted December 16, 2006 Author Posted December 16, 2006 Re: Wasim Jaffer.... I'd go with GG. We should have persisted with him a little bit longer in the first place. My only worry with Pathan is that if we play him as a no.6, Dravid might feel compelled to throw him the ball too. And the thought of that makes me wake up at night in cold sweats. Also, has Pathan ever played as a specialist bat? It's a different kind of pressure altogether, one he wont be used to.
shailesh Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 Re: Wasim Jaffer.... Jaffer should be dropped and replaced by Vengy
talksport Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 Re: Wasim Jaffer.... Jaffer is fine... Just low on confidence. One bad match dont make a bad player overnight.... He is one player who can get Hundreds and big hundreds and he is recent Indian Top Order who got one last series... The rest have to bat from memory :hic: He is required to seal the series
Predator_05 Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 Re: Wasim Jaffer.... Ranj, i remembered you once said that GG can average in the 40's. Do you still stand by that ? He looks very loose in his strokeplay and can't play the incoming delivery. Vaas owned him in those two tests he played vs India.
yoda Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 Re: Wasim Jaffer.... Jaffer had a test 200 not long ago. He needs to be persisted with before dumping him for good for Gambhir. To me it all depends on how we do this series. If others are chipping in and we are doing fine, we have the luxury of letting him continue for another series. Remember, if Gambhir was indeed the answer, he wouldn't have been dropped in the first place. I am all for going back to Gambhir after giving Jaffer this series and another one.
