When you see that film, you can understand why Sobers ranks Sunny Gavaskar as the top batsman he has ever bowled to. To fight it out, and average so high against such a strong team, with NO HELMET is incredible!

WI had bowlers like Holding, Marshall, Roberts, Garner, Winston Davis etc. to fall back on. What that series loss did was bring in the 4 pacemen formula. Before that series WI went with 2 or 3 pacers and a spinner or two but after the series WI, or rather Lloyd, decided that enough with spinners and went with 4 pacers approach. We can do the same but we will have to rely on PK, Ishant, Sreesanth and Munaf to do so :haha:

In 1975 they only had Roberts. Holding was a rookie and the 5-1 tour was his debut series. Garner joined them later I think. They were not the force they became, nowhere close. A lot of credit should got to Roberts for leading them and helping them become the force they became

That's true... the rules like 2 bouncers an over etc. were passed to nullify WI pace threat. And now these same folks say BCCI is "too powerful" and is "ruining cricket" even though they used their influence to help make their team cope better against WI.
