rkt.india
But UP is a BAD team. They deserve to lose. It might do better when their kaptan goes back and joins the team. Batting is not their strongest but bowling is. With PK, BK, RP, and Tyagi...they have a good fast bowling unit. Unfortunately, PK is injured and Tyagi is struggling with his rhythm after coming back from injury. Link to comment
Magneto
True. They lost the match because of their batting. Will happen if Kaif and TS are their best batters. Link to comment

Raghav_12
Naman Ojha played an excellent knock of 107 in chase of 299 against very decent attack of Delhi. A very interesting match is on in Indore on the sidelines of Sehwag's blast in city. http://www.espncricinfo.com/indian-domestic-2011/engine/current/match/522965.html MP needs another 59 runs with 5 wickets in hand on last day. Magneto
^yes' date=' but still they lost...[/quote'] Ummm, Bengal is the 'weakest' team in their group, batting wise. It's an achievement not to lose by an innings against a strong TN side. :P Link to comment

Sir john
Bengal asks for a runner for injured Rohan Banerjee Bengal on Thursday exposed themselves their little knowledge of new cricket rules when they asked for a runner for an injured Rohan Banerjee but only to be denied promptly by match officials in their Ranji Trophy match against Tamil Nadu. With Bengal struggling at 129 for six in reply to Tamil Nadu's 391, the Bengal thinktank brought on Banerjee at number eight from the hospital bed with Abhishek Jhunjhunwala padded up to become his runner. But the umpires denied it, pointing out the new ICC rule of abolishing runners. Banerjee had to be retired hurt. It seemed the side led by veteran Sourav Ganguly, now a cricket commentator, was unaware of the new ICC rule. "He had serious injury, so we asked the umpire for a runner but they denied," Ganguly said after the match. Ganguly further said there was no pressure from CAB for him to play and it was the youngster's decision to bat. "He wanted to play. Many have played with injuries earlier. CAB did not pressurise. We said if you are fit then you have to bat. CAB does not come in the picture," Ganguly said. CAB joint-secretary Sujan Mukherjee said, "We thought the umpires would allow runners, as was in the case during a U-22 match of Bengal earlier." Banerjee stayed in the middle for 17 minutes and faced eight balls but only to be retired hurt for nought as he was rushed to the private hospital again. The doctors criticised the move to make him play again. "We want to highlight two things. First, he should not have been brought on a chair after being injured as not using a stretcher it seemed aggravated his condition. He passed blood in urine and has visceral injury. Also, the move to make him play surprised us (today)," a doctor said. Banerjee is said to have been advised to remain under medical observation till Saturday. CAB joint-secretary Biswarup Dey, however, said Banerjee had been admitted today because he reported "weakness". Banerjee, while fielding at forward shortleg, was hit on his lower abdomen on the first day on Tuesday and he remained out of action till he was brought to play at number eight today. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/cricket/domestic-cricket/ranji-trophy/Bengal-asks-for-a-runner-for-injured-Rohan-Banerjee/articleshow/11036523.cms Link to comment
Sir john
The left-handed opener, who was injured after being hit in the lower abdominal region on the first day, was brought on at No 8 after Bengal were reeling for 129/6 but it seemed he aggravated his condition while running as he walked off the field after a 17-minute stint. "Dropping catches -- four times -- did not help and that was the turning point. Wicket was helping the bowlers but past is past. Hope we save the match and now getting one-point is the only aim," Shukla said after his dogged unbeaten half-centuries in both the innings. Absence of Tiwary and Saha, doing national duties, even worsened the matter, as Bengal put up a meek show in their first innings. Shreevats Goswami, who looked compact in his overnight score of 33, could not build on his good start to get out in the second over of the day edging one Yomahesh delivery behind the stumps. Writam Porel also followed suit in Yomahesh's next over as the Bengal batsman got out without adding anything to his overnight score of 4. Yomahesh spread terror in Bengal camp picking his third wicket in the dream spell in the form of Ganguly who was brilliantly taken at backward point in a one-handed catch by Abhinav Mukund to reduce Bengal to 87/5 Link to comment

Add to this international players like Zaheer, Harbhajan and Yuvraj played with injuries. Link to comment
