From cricinfo: Incidentally, the 1981-82 final between Delhi and Karnataka, played in Delhi, was extended to the sixth day, to enable the hosts to gain a first-innings lead. GR Viswanath, the Karnataka captain, elected to bat, a decision that proved appropriate as the visitors went on to amass 705. In reply Delhi could not gain the lead even at the end of the final day's play. But in an unprecedented move, play was extended to the sixth day, and a little before tea, Delhi, under Mohinder Amarnath, scored 707 for 8. By virtue of their first-innings lead, Delhi emerged winners on March 29, 1982, the extra day.

Domestic cricket standards have actually come down. In those days most of the Test Cricketers used to play in the Ranji Trophy matches.
hmm now a days its impossible for test cricketers to play ranji packed schedule and also fitness problems but i never imagined such disgraceful performance owuld be given by finalists one team cant get wickets other cant score runs

Contrary to most people here, I find Rajasthan's strategy very interesting. The TN batsmen would be mighty tired anyway standing for two and half days, and may fall pretty quickly when Rajasthan's fresh legs Pankaj Singh and Deepak Chahar Rituraj Singh take them on. Is there a possibility of the wicket crumbling later and having some turn? Rajasthan's left-arm spinner's average is 52 in FC. :woot:

Better than being foolhardy and losing the all-important finals of a Trophy every domestic cricketer dreams of winning. An intelligent, calculative team plays to its strengths and gets itself into a strong position. If they can reach something like 600, they have a 70-30 chance of winning. And their strategy will pay off excellently if they ultimately manage to win. It's war out there and you get in to WIN. Not to show off how brave you are. Rajasthan is managing its limited talent in an excellent manner and kudos to the coach and captain for that. They were 27th out of the 27 teams just two years back. I wish the Indian team had this hunger to win.
