That and the money factor, and also the fact that the playing XI has become like a grand posse. There's too much hesitation about introducing fresh blood in the team. I'm beginning to think that there are certain people in the squad who want their chaddi buddies in the playing XI in favor of camaraderie and a sense of familiarity rather than a change that could do well for our country. I don't doubt that there are plenty of talented youngsters waiting to play for India. They're just not being given any chances and are rotting in the sidelines. The selection criteria are absolutely skewed, and too much power is given to 'seniors' while choosing players.

So instead of a captain's IPL buddy (Raina) playing in Test matches, we could've a talented Rahane playing. Instead of RP/VK etc. playing in Limited overs we could've young fast bowlers like Varun, Tyagi, Umesh etc. The Captain not only controls the selection of player in the touring squad but also the crucial playing XI. So even if selectors have sent a player as replacement, the Egoistic captain doesn't has to select the replacement or available player in the playing XI unless circumstances and media pressure forces him to do so. I believe the future of a cricket team is decided by the present days captain. If he keeps of favouring his chums only, there's little chance of getting good young player in the team.
