asterix Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Is it because of IPL and Tonty-Tonty? Not only batsmen, we haven't got exceptionally talented spinners in the younger lot. Are we delaying the selection of young talents (if there's any)? Will we now never have prodigies?

daryl1985 Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 I think Pujara and Rahane have the potential to be exceptional. Rohit Sharma also has the talent and Kohli can become very good too. With the bowling, i don't see a great deal of domestic cricket barring IPL so can't really say. Iqbal Abdullah looks a good limited overs prospect and Varun Aaron looks to have potential. I think Jadeja is a little hard done by he looks to have improved in the last IPL. Apart from the T20 game where he got hammered out of the park by Watson and Warner he generally keeps it tight with the bowling. He got off to the worst possible start when Dhoni promoted him up the order in a T20 World Cup game in England in 2009 and he wasted a lot of balls before getting out

I have always enjoyed watching them bowl more than the likes of Prasad or srinath. I wonder where sri lankans like malinga got inspiration from looking at their history of bowlers.. and india's population is like 100 times more.

Once you get into domestic cricket, you see importance on batting and not much focus on bowling. Apart from inspiration, they need good retired bowlers at lowest levels working with them to improve skills. Who does that in India?

And we have bowling coaches telling young bowlers they should not be going for pace as if you have to sacrifice accuracy if you have pace which is complete BS

Millions and millions to the likes of S.Tiwary, Yusuf Pathan, R.Uthappa. Where is the motivation (rare exceptions aside) and hunger ? Has this new easy money tontee20 leagues not changed the mindset of emerging generation? james Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 It amazes me that Indian bowlers who start of quick, turn to trundlers but they themselves dont get it in their thick heads what they are doing and it causes more harm for them. Surely if Indian bowlers who start fast then drop their speed for line and length would be able to bowl fast again with line and length? They still persist with the same low speeds to keep line and length, then get dropped and make another comeback only to fail again.

rkt.india Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Yaar tontte tontee and IPL started in 2008...count how many exceptional players we found between 2000-2008...none..... exceptional players come one or two in a lifetime 10-20 years at least...look at Australia...There FC is considered to be the best but they too are struggling to produce any exceptional player.
