read about it already, and tired of making statements about the BCCI, no use seriously. They don;t seem to have any passion for the game, the only passion is to earn money. the worst State board in DDCA, they must be stripped naked in the streets. These good for nothing, money starved people are hellbound in destroying a process of selection which is merit based.

Vinay replaces Suyal, no place for Jaggi More... Vinay replaces Suyal, no place for Jaggi Devendra Pandey Posted: Sep 25, 2011 Mumbai: The national selection committee on Saturday named medium pacer R Vinay Kumar as the injured Pawan Suyal’s replacement in the Rest of India squad for the Irani Trophy. The decision comes a day after The Indian Express reported goof-ups by the selectors, who dropped a fit Ishank Jaggi and picked left-armer Suyal, who recently underwent a surgery in England and was ruled out of the ongoing Champions League T20 tournament. BCCI secretary Sanjay Jagdale in a press statement on Saturday informed that Karnataka medium-pacer Vinay, who played in the England ODI series, has been picked for ROI in place of Suyal for the match against Ranji Champions Rajasthan beginning in Jaipur from October 1. While selectors didn’t however reconsider their decision to drop Jharkhan batsman Jaggi. Jharkhand Cricket Association president Amitabh Choudhary had reportedly spoken to Jagdale, requesting him to take back Jaggi, who is attending a Ranji pre-season camp. But BCCI sources say that the request was turned down as the selection committee got a report from NCA’s physio Nitin Patel which said Jaggi needed to undergo a surgery. Meanwhile a selector told The Sunday Express that they picked the team on the basis of the information that was made available to them. “We didn’t know about Suyal’s injury at all, we were not provided with his injury information, hence it happened. As far as Jaggi is concerned, we went through the report submitted by NCA, and according to that, we took decision,” said the selector, who did not wish to be named. Another selector added: “Jaggi has not played a single game since he got injured. Attending a camp is different. What if his injury recurs during Irani Trophy? So it’s better to take a fit player.” Injury concerns for Rajasthan Meanwhile, Rajasthan retained almost all the members of the team that won Ranji Trophy last year for their Irani Cup match with Hrishikesh Kanitkar as skipper. The two other outstation professionals last season, Aakash Chopra and Rashmi Ranjan Parida, have also signed up and will once again form the core of the batting along with Vinit Saxena, Robin Bisht and Ashok Menaria. Medium-pacers Deepak Chahar, who had a sensational debut season last year, Pankaj Singh will lead the new ball attack. The only players who are missing from the champion squad are spinner Vivek Yadav and pacer Raman Charah. However, there are injury concerns with key players like Pankaj, Chahar, Menaria and Parida yet to recover completely from their injuries. The selection committee, however, was confident that the players will be match-fit. Squad: Hrishikesh Kanitkar (captain), Aakash Chopra, Vineet Saxena, Rashmi Ranjan Parida, Ashok Menaria, Robin Bisht, Dishant Yagnik, Pankaj Singh, Deepak Chahar, Sumit Mathur, Aniket Choudhary, Madhur Khatri, Gajendra Singh, Rohit Jhalani, Vaibhav Deshpande. Coach Amit Asawa. Reserves: Manjit Singh, Pranay Sharma.

No place for Jaffer in ROI squad MUMBAI: Former India skippers Sourav Ganguly, Ravi Shastri and Sunil Gavaskar may think that Mumbai skipper Wasim Jaffer is the third-best opening batsman in the country after Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir, but the Indian selectors Kris Srikkanth, Mohinder Amarnath, Raja Venkat and Narendra Hirwani don't seem to be on the same plane. After getting snubbed for the tours of West Indies and England, where Murali Vijay and Abhinav Mukund, the replacement openers for the unfit Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir, failed to impress, the wise men have played another cruel joke, who in the last three seasons, has scored 2,626 runs in the Ranji Trophy with 11 centuries including a double hundred and a triple ton. Jaffer last played for India in a Test against South Africa in Kanpur, in April 2008. Prior to the three-match series against the Proteas, he had endured a horror tour of Australia, where he was dropped for the fourth Test in Adelaide after struggling in the first three Tests. His scores in them were 4 and 15 ( Melbourne), 3 and 0 ( Sydney) and 16 and 11 (Perth). Should one bad series be enough to dump him especially at a time when the selectors are struggling to find a good bunch of opening batsmen? Apart from Sehwag and Gavaskar, Jaffer is the only other Indian batsman to have registered two double hundreds (212 vs West Indies at Antigua in 2006 and 202 vs Pakistan at Kolkata) as an opener. Sources in the selection committee have suggested that Jaffer will never be selected as the selection committee considers him to be too old for an India recall and don't think that he could be a part of the Indian team in the future. For the record, Jaffer is 33. Michael Hussey made his Australia debut at 32. Scoring runs by the tons certainly hasn't done the job for Jaffer. One wonders what more he needs to do to bring about a change in his fortunes? http://articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/2011-09-24/top-stories/30198012_1_wasim-jaffer-parthiv-patel-ravindra-jadeja

For Rajasthan, Pankaj Singh has been ruled out due to a knee injury, Chahar has a split webbing and is doubtful. Among batsmen Parida and Menaria are not yet match fit having suffered finger injuries!! In all probablity, the Jaipur pitch is going to be an absolute road. After a long lay off its disappointing to see so many bowlers still injured. Wonder if the BCCI even has a monitoring program for these players for the off season.
