Sidhoni Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 http://sports.ndtv.com/cricket/features/interviews/item/178831-shoaib-akhtar-defends-autobiography-hails-sachins-achievements I never said SRK cheated me or that Sachin was scared... It is just a few things that I felt at the time. IPL was a fantastic moment in my life - that I was loved by so many Bengalis... they even came to drop me to my room. SRK never betrayed me... always took care of me.. Whenever I came to India there was so much love... so much fan following... Please read the book. To understand where I come from. It is not about a few lines. SRK has taken care of me - taking me to his home, made sure media didn't trouble me. I left ICL - didn't want to leave my country by playing ICL... had a huge offer, huge chunk of money. But I wanted to play for Pakistan that's why I chose IPL. My only difference with SRK and Sourav - I told Sourav that I'm not comfortable with the money. Sourav told me that you were not bid for so this is the best price we can get for you, we will make it up later, Lalit Modi has promised it blah blah... those promises are the ones I have written about - not cheated or betrayed... just written about the incident. :cantstop:
Sidhoni Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 People need to read book to understand what I meant with what I said at that period of time. Rahul and Sachin's achievements are there for everyone to see. Sachin has over 18,000 runs and is about get 100 centuries... cannot say he is not a good cricketer or that he is scared. What I felt at that moment on that day is what I have written. Read book... don't pick up lines and write.
Sidhoni Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 You have good days and bad days... I got hit by Sachin for 6. No big deal. On that particular day I didn't think he was comfortable. You have to read my book to know what I meant. Whatever I felt I said it. Not going to be justified not reading my book and making comments. Picking up a few lines and putting in headlines. If I had to get attention and create controversies I would have released the book a month ago and kept sending feelers to get attention.
div Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 Shoaib is losing lot of indian fans after this comment. But he is ready to sacrifice fans for selling his cheap book. He doesnt have many fans in India, that is why he is targeting Sachin n Dravid.
ganeshran Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 I dont see why we need to give any attention to Akhtar's comments. Every cricketer makes controversial comments in his books to gain more publicity. Shoaib being the character he was, made more such comments. IMO it doesnt warrant any attention or outrage - which would do nothing but to help him sell more books
kubrickian Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 Indian fans are always hyper sensitive about any comment against Indian cricket. Why should we react to each and every criticism ? This guy is a has been, retired from international cricket, not going to get a contract in IPL and will not make much more money in professional life. This book is probably his last chance to rake it in and he is trying to gain some publicity. Its a little pathetic that he should do that at the cost of his reputation(if he had any in the first place) but then again, this guy is a Pakistani and reputation matters least to them. If Gilchrist could say Sachin never shook hands with the opposition just to sell some copies, dont be surprised when a loose character like Akhtar says something similar.

Roshanrocks Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 Shoaib was a problem and remains a problem: Akram Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram on Saturday ridiculed Shoaib Akhtar and his controversial autobiography, which has made several tall claims, saying that the pacer was a "problem" when he was an active player and remains just that even in retirement. Akram pooh-poohed Shoaib's claims of making Sachin Tendulkar uncomfortable with his pace in the Faisalabad Test in 2006 and also rejected some of the other allegations he has made in the book titled 'Controversially Yours'. "I remember one of Sachin's knocks in the Sialkot Test. It was the fourth Test and the wicket had lot of grass, I was 22 and Waqar was 19 and we were very fast," Akram recalled. "Waqar hit him on his chin and he came back after taking treatment and scored a 50. If a 16-year-old can't be scared, I don't think any batsman can be scared. It hardly matters what Shoaib says," Akram said. Akram said Shoaib, who was a controversial figure all through his playing career, was just trying to sell his book with tall claims and also rejected allegations that he tried to destroy the tearaway pacer's career. "Whatever the Pakistan Cricket Board says, I am with them. He was a problem when he was in the team and he is a problem when he is out of the team," Akram said. "He knows, I know and the world knows that he was himself responsible for destroying his career. There is a lot to talk but I don't want to humiliate him. There is an unwritten code among players that some facts should not be revealed before the media," he warned. "You guys (media) will ensure that his book is a bestseller," he said. Talking about Indian cricket, Akram said Mahendra Singh Dhoni's men should brace up for tough times ahead when they tour Australia later this year as fast and bouncy wickets await them Down Under. "The Australia tour will be challenging for India and they should expect bouncy wickets," he said. Akram also advocated the resumption of bilateral cricket ties between India and Pakistan. "I am in favour of sporting ties between India and Pakistan. If players of these countries do well against each other, they can do well against anyone," he said :hysterical:
J P K Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 There were times when the patriot burst through too. Crookbond Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 Frankly, the PCB president speaks from the exact same place what his name suggests and there's no prizes for guessing what comes out.
