1983-2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 AHMEDABAD: Senior IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt, in the eye of storm after he filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court implicating Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi in the 2002 communal riots, was sent to judicial custody by a court in Ahmedabad on Saturday. Bhatt will now be lodged in Sabarmati jail till his bail hearing comes up on Monday. Meanwhile, the Gujarat government added one more section, 194 of IPC, in the FIR against him for creating false evidence with a view to falsely implicating a person in a case, wherein punishment is death. Bhatt was arrested on Friday in connection with an FIR filed against him by police constable KD Pant for allegedly threatening and making him sign a "false" affidavit about a high-level meeting called by Narendra Modi on February 27, 2002. Pant alleged that Bhatt had forced him to back his allegations on record against Narendra Modi. Bhatt claimed that his arrest was politically motivated. Bhatt's wife had on Saturday written a letter to Gujarat's Director General of Police ( DGP) Chitranjan Singh and Ahmedabad Police Commissioner Sudhir Sinha, saying there is a threat to her husband's life. Sinha told pressmen that the control room had received the letter late at night wherein Bhatt's wife had said that she was concerned about the safety of Bhatt as he was being taken to crime branch. "We have not taken any action as there is no threat to Bhatt's life", Sinha said. Sources said that Bhatt spent the night at a police lock-up in Gaekwad police station wherein four police personnel were posted to guard his security. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Sanjiv-Bhatt-the-cop-who-took-on-Narendra-Modi-sent-to-Sabarmati-jail/articleshow/10198175.cms

Kanimozhi, etc were arrested after Karunadhi lost power As for Yeddy , Kumarswamy, BJP was attacking congress on corruption charges so they had to sacrifice them On the other hand, in Gujrat, Modi is all powerful, and the entire state machinery is geared to protect him. People in charge who were so soul-less that they let hundreds of innocent women and kids die wont have the morality to stand up against Modi. Same for the people who voted Modi to power. Modi will get his come-uppance, but only after he loses power

Dude, Modi is probably the most powerful person when it comes to Gujarat. He's actually more powerful in Gujarat than Saudi king in Saudi. Under Modi, Gujarat is able to compete with southern state in every aspect of success.

1983-2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Author Posted October 2, 2011 Sanjiv Bhatt arrest: Lawyers battle it out There were heated exchanges between lawyers of Sanjiv Bhatt and government counsel after the police officer was produced before magistrate BG Doshi's court.Bhatt's counsel Iqbal Saiyad and Mahesh Baria strongly opposed the appearance of the district government pleader Pravin Trivedi's to represent the police before the court. Both the lawyers submitted before the court that the government pleader who is assigned duty to represent the government before the magistrate should appear in the case. Trivedi has no right to appear in the case as he not represented the police in routine matters. However, Trivedi countered submissions of Bhatt lawyers by saying that he is the chief of government lawyers and he has the right to appear in any case related with jurisdiction of Ahmedabad district. The magistrate then allowed Trivedi to argue the case. Another round of heated arguments began when Saiyad opposed the police ground for seeking remand to check details of Bhatt's bank lockers. However, Trivedi contended that the police not want to search for cash or ornaments in the lockers but they wanted to search for documents of CD, if any, related to the case. Then Saiyad rose from his chair and objected to such an argument and asked why Trivedi was raising the issue of ornaments (which is not related to the case at all). Another heated arguments ensued where Saiyad said that the Supreme Court has sent many cases of Gujarat transfers to CBI or outside the state. Trivedi replied, "we will obey the SC order when it delivered". On this, Saiyad said, "you are not obligating court by transferring the probe". http://www.dnaindia.com/india/report_sanjiv-bhatt-arrest-lawyers-battle-it-out_1594214
1983-2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Author Posted October 2, 2011 Modi, Shah wanted evidence of Pandya murder destroyed: Bhatt Ahmedabad, Sep 26 (PTI) Suspended IPS officer Sanjeev Bhatt today told the Gujarat High Court that Chief Minister Narendra Modi and former Minister of State for Home Amit Shah had tried to pressurise him to destroy crucial evidence in the Haren Pandya murder case. The allegations were made by Bhatt in an additional affidavit filed by him today before Justice R H Shukla who was hearing an alleged police atrocity case against the IPS officer in Jamnagar district. Bhatt has sought relief in the case. In the affidavit filed through his advocate I H Syed, Bhatt claimed while he was posted as Superintendent of Sabarmati Central Prison in November 2003, he had come across important documentary evidence in connection with the murder of BJP leader and former minister Haren Pandya. The very afternoon after he had forwarded the evidence to the Home department, he got a call from Shah expressing 'displeasure' over the report and asking him to destroy the documents immediately. Bhatt placed the conversation with Shah on record and prepared another report, attached the Pandya murder documents and sent it to Shah directly. He claimed Modi and Shah were highly disturbed and agitated by his act and had repeatedly tried to persuade him to withdraw his communication to Shah and destroy it. http://ibnlive.in.com/generalnewsfeed/news/modi-shah-wanted-evidence-of-pandya-murder-destroyed-bhatt/837833.html

kabira Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 This police guy killed an innocent young guy from village in Jamnagar District. I did not read this in newspaper, but my Chartered Accountant told me about this incident as that villager was his relative.

I am surprised, perhaps I shouldnt be, how people not only choose to be ignorant about this but step up and live in denial about this. This guy, and the Govt in charge then, has blood on their hands. Modi will get his come-uppance, but only after he loses power Hopefully not, why wish ill of anyone? But wouldnt surprise me either.

It is not as cut and dry as folks make it out. Punjab was the first state of its kind that erupted in extremism, even J&K was not like that. Some of that criticism has to rest with Congress, and Indira, and she paid it with her life. But it should also be realized that certain sections of Sikhs were also equally responsible. Today it looks all fine and dandy but in 80s every single day the headline used to be Sikh extremist killing so many folks. By the by in the history of modern India there is only one regiment who has mutinied against the nation. Guess which group was behind this? Its a telling truth that most countrymen don't realize even today. xx

How many of them are punished . Anyway the point of discussion is not Punjab militancy the point is role of government .All the people know that in 1984 it was not public anger it was state sponsered killing supported by congress ,yet the name of Rajiv is never taken in same voice as the name of Modi. Why is it that Modi's is considered as killer while Rajiv gandhi's is not

Though the point that Sikh extremism was prevalent back then is true, it in no way relates to the fact that those who were massacred after Indira Gandhi's assassination in the capital had nothing to do with the Khalistan movement.
