True or not, these allegation have done enough to hurt cricket's image. I still remember Australia scoring 20 or 25 of 10 overs against Zimbabwe in a World cup game, many raised questions at Australia's approach at the beginning, I doubt we'll ever know if it was real or not. Also any collapse or unusual things that happen in cricket these days, its hard to not think there is something suspicious going on. We just try to believe it was genuine, at least for me this has done enough damage to dent cricket's image in many fans mind.

Well then you can't trust any sport. There are murmurs of fixing in football, F1, tennis and pretty much every sport. In the last week there was a report of some Olympic events being fixed and Rooney's dad being arrested for placing a bet along with his friends on a red card minutes before it happened. Matt Li Tissier admitted to placing a bet on the timing of the first throw in - that's spot-fixing in football. Players have come forward and said that they have been asked to fix matches at Wimbledon and we've seen the suspicious game involving Davydenko. You've had the fixing incident in America with the White Sox 90 years back. Stephen Fleming in his book said that a he met a chap in a bar who he later came to know was a bookie and he claimed that Man Utd, Andre Agassi etc fixed games.

In summary, you are telling that following any sport passionately is a stupid thing because you are only being fooled!!

I was threatened by underworld for not fixing matches: Modi NEW DELHI: Former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi on Wednesday claimed that he was threatened by the underworld and there have been three attempts to kill him for refusing to fix Indian Premier League matches. "I was threatened considerably by the underworld for refusing to fix IPL matches. There have been three attempts to kill me. Bookies-underworld want me killed," Modi said. Modi said he was once threatened in his house in 2009 just before leaving for South Africa, once in South Africa and once in Thailand when "I was there on a holiday". "I was apprised of all these by the central agencies," he added. In another disclosure, Modi said he has received threatening calls from Pakistan, with the latest one coming as recently as last week, which has been reported to Scotland Yard. "I was given security protection in India. The Mumbai police knew about it, the central agencies knew about it", Modi told a television channel. Modi refused to speak further saying "I would rather not talk about it. It's a very complicated matter. It's to do with my security." Modi's claims came in the wake of a London court's ruling in the spot-fixing scam, which found former Pakistan Test skipper Salman Butt and pacer Mohammad Asif guilty. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/cricket/ipl-2011/news/I-was-threatened-by-underworld-for-not-fixing-matches-Modi/articleshow/10582664.cms
