Does Redistributing Income Reduce Poverty?

I am all for redistribution of income from top management to others .... Once I get into the top management, may be I will rethink this :P On a serious note, with the cost of living rising there is a need to see that the minimum wages are increased. There is also a need to provide proper healt plans to elders (retired) and those on minimum wages .... along with creating more opportunities The population increase is constantly putting pressure on the resources, which is driving the prices high. The cost of pursuing a higher education is increasing but because of a higher cost of living, many are postponing their retirement by a few years thereby not creating enough openings for those out of college. People are also living longer (and thus retiring later) because of improvement in healthcare facilities .... if young people are not provided with proper opportunities, it gets them frustrated which may create more evils As the march to 8 billion and more continues, it could get more difficult to sustain even the current standards. May be a new theory or ideology may need to be developed to meet challenges in the future where the focus will be to become more efficient as a race and reduce waste Who knows something that went out of fashion like communism may come back into fashion in future. Something like Nazism could spark as well as some sociities may feel a need to safeguard its interests at someone else's cost Say there is no breakthrough technology and we still depend upon oil and we have oil to meet say 70% of world's demand then would we not fight to control oil for our country and people. And if that 70% of oil is distributed evenly amongst all nations, how does each nation go about redistributing it within its border .... in such a scenario, even proper distribution doesn't help alleviate the problems Who know we might have the developed nations develop some virus that would eliminate some of the population in some parts of the world. The vaccine of this virus could be only available to those in the developed world. In such a scenario, how does those in developing nations have a chance. This would be like winning a war without even firing a weapon of mass destruction In short, we would need a proper plan for future because the rising population could create a chaos .... It is imperative for countries like China and India to control the population or no present theory to create equality will be useful
