What's his bowling average?[/quote'] Forget about VRV. Let's talk Pathan. Do you think he is a tremendous talent with a bowling average in the mid 40s against non-minnows? Or do you think he is a good enough cause of his batting + bits and pieces bowling? Link to comment
Dhondy
Re: All hail Jumbo. I think this chap can hold down a number 6 spot in any international team, Yoda, average 40 with the bat at the end of his career and around 35 with the ball. For a country starved of all rounders since Kapil retired, that ain't bad. Link to comment

Gambit
Re: All hail Jumbo. Kumble did not do anything spectacular in this test. But he did in Sydney, Pak and Kingston. He was one of the many cogs in this team victory. Link to comment
King
Re: All hail Jumbo. Gambo, Anil had to deliver last night otherwise I wasn't hopeful the rest of the bowlers would have claimed Pollock and Prince when they started to bat aggressively. Link to comment

King
Re: All hail Jumbo. This was a glaring example of statistics not really revealing everything. Although the scorecard reveals Kumble only chipped in with 5 wickets in this test match (that is 1/4th anyways) he did more than what the statistics suggest particularly on day 4. Link to comment
Dhondy
Re: All hail Jumbo. Three vital wickets today, when India were just about starting to flag. You can't measure that kind of thing in cricketing units. Jumbo is, and always be, the most underrated performer, not just in Indian cricket, but the world over. Link to comment
yoda
Re: All hail Jumbo. Kumble's contribution this test was as the number of wickets indicates. He did 1/4 of the job. Sreesanth indeed do 1/2 the job with Zak doing the other 1/4 and VRV doing jack shyte. Link to comment

King
Re: All hail Jumbo. The original write up Lurker is fantatic but just saw you wrote "Kumble went to work, like only he could. You could imagine him licking his fingers, throwing the ball up, start his run-up and land the ball on target. As Pollock tried to force his way out of the chakravyuh he tried one too many. He went for the sweep, found the ball too straight and was adjudged plumb lbw." Pollock was bowled and not LBW. I have corrected this in the article and have posted this on the main page. I think I will do the same with Shwetabh's one too. :wtg: Link to comment

Lurker
Arre I had forgotten this. Thanks for bringing this up BB  Link to comment
sandtest
Good read editorial, Lurker. Anil Kumble has his own legacy behind him which makes every Indian proud. He is like a "dhruv-tara" a prominent shining star, among galaxy of bigger stars like Sachin and Dravid. Link to comment
