The guy bowls 85-90 Mph consistently,was very impressive in the champions league & got good change of pace.His reverse swinging yorkers at the death overs can be handy.End of the day he's a far better bowler than Vinay,Mithun or Arvind.

I hope Duncan Fletcher has heard or read about him. Thats the only way he can come to the team. Was surprised to find that his hattrick in the last Ranji match didn't get reported as prominently as Sid Trivedi's hattrick today. Telegraph was the only newspaper reporting that feat.

Guwahati, Nov. 11: The day 11-11-11 comes once in a century. But, this day will have a significance of its own in the history of Assam cricket as paceman Abu Nechim Ahmed scripted history by taking the first-ever hattrick by any Assam bowler in a Ranji trophy match today. The figure 13, superstitiously assumed to be unfortunate, proved lucky for the 23-year-old Mumbai Indians paceman because he struck for the three consecutive wickets off the last three deliveries of his 13th over of the innings against Goa today. Playing his 23rd first class cricket match in adverse conditions for a paceman, the speedster struck for the prized Goan wickets of Sherbahadur Yadav, Vasanth Saravanan and Rahul Keni at 11am today add another 11 to the 11-11-11 date. To put it in the words of former state paceman Zaved Zaman, “it was a feast for the eyes to watch Abu script history with elan”. Disorienting the overnight set Yadav by bowling at varied line and length, Ahmed uprooted his leg stick with an incutter. He then castled Saravanan’s off-stick with one that kept low. Then he delivered the third slightly outside the off-stick to southpaw Keni who snicked it straight into the safe hands of Tarjinder Singh at first slip. Ahmed accounted for five for 84, bowling 27 overs in the innings so far. “It feels great to be the first to take a hattrick for a state in Ranji Trophy. The joy is more for me because I have done it in front of a home crowd. I am overwhelmed by the support,” Ahmed said. He admitted there was little support from the spinners at the other end. “Everything was in our favour, if the spinners could have given some support,” Ahmed said about the visitors taking a 82-run first innings lead even after tottering at 101 for seven . “Abu is the only bowler who delivered today. If the others could have given support, we could have been in a comfortable situation,” coach Rajesh Kamath told The Telegraph. Assam Cricket Association president Gautam Roy, when contacted, said, “I am very happy. We will reward him in a befitting manner for this achievement.” Assam Cricket Academy director Subhrajit Saikia and former Ranji captain Zakaria Zuffri were unanimous in their observation that Ahmed has struck the right chord at the right time. “It was very essential for him to hog the limelight in the Ranji Trophy. This will help him in his aspirations for the national side,” Zuffri said. “This is the right platform to perform. Performance in T20 should not always be counted for a berth in the national side because T20 is altogether a different ball game,” Saikia said.

He can be an effective , t20 and ODI bowler to start with , he can bowl yorkers, can swing and has skiddy pace of slingy action, easy action, best person he can learn from is Malinga .

India needs to set up a pool of fast bowlers, spinners and batsmen and manage them via a cricket academy. We have wasted too much talent already with the likes of Irfan Pathan, Balaji, RP Singh, VRV Singh etc.
