1983-2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 2006-07: Lost Ashes 5-0 Down Under Fletcher received heavy criticism from all quarters after preferring Ashley Giles to Monty Panesar as England's main spinner in the first two Tests of the 2006-07 Ashes series; Giles took three wickets in two Tests, while Panesar, when given the chance in the third Test, took five wickets in the first innings and three wickets in the second innings. will he make a selection blunder with team India Down Under:nervous:
jairamesh Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 can't blame giles, the whole England team was hopeless, they were living off 2005.
maverick451 Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 It was very simular to the resent England vs India series, it was more about lack of preparation rather than selection. we (England) got way overconfident after beating Australia in 2005 and thought we could just rock up and beat them without doing proper preparation and got found out big time. It was Fletchers fault but I doubt he'll make the same mistake twice.
Old guy Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 4-0 australia is possible this time if out rookies dont perform :P
MCcricket Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 Giles to me was a pie chucker or spinning equivalent of a trundler, Panesar and him would be like chalk and cheese, any one with some knowledge of a spinner would pick Panesar, even Swann is over hyped bigtime.Look like Aussies have found a decent spinner in Nathan Lyon
