G_B_ Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 As an Australian, the public here have gone mad over the 7 run loss today! I've written an article about it here, it's far too long to copy and paste. Have a read and share your thoughts on the site or below this post. http://www.penandpapersports.com/document.php?docID=521 What do you think needs to happen? A clean out or a few minor changes? Cheers, PPS I think I am fair in saying the prospects of the Indian bowling attack will rest with how good Zaheer does. As far as Aus goes, the opening slots need to be addressed. You have rumours of Katich coming back. Plus as far as ageing stars go, I do believe that the average age of the Australian today to potentially take to the field is about the same as India? (i could be wrong)
PenPaperSports Posted December 17, 2011 Author Posted December 17, 2011 Katich won't come back - Guaranteed!
Bradman99 Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Katich won't come back - Guaranteed! That sucks man, he was our most consistent batsman. Who would you open with if Watson is still injured? Because I think Hughes needs time out of the spotlight.. Cowan?
Robelinda Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Hussey could open, otherwise Hughes could still play, but only if Watson is injured, but he is fit to play as a batsman anyway.
Bradman99 Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Hussey could open' date=' otherwise Hughes could still play, but only if Watson is injured, but he is fit to play as a batsman anyway.[/quote'] Heard this talk of Hussey opening, could work. But yeah apparently Watson should be fit anyway.
G_B_ Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 From what I read the combo they wanted to open was Marsh Warner with watson coming in at 6. But with injury to Marsh's back he might be ruled out. Watson i read should be fit, but his hamstring is still an issue or could be even while running between the wickets even if he does not bowl. with it being a 4 match series there is a though doing the rounds that he will be not risked for the opening test.
ganeshran Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Katich coming back would solve most of current problems in Australia. Hughes can go back to the domestic scene till he gets his technical problems right. Katich could also retire gracefully in an year and Hughes or some other player can take his place by then
PenPaperSports Posted December 17, 2011 Author Posted December 17, 2011 Love the idea of Marsh/Warner Opening and Watson at 6!!
Bradman99 Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Marsh Warner Ponting Clarke Hussey Watson Haddin Siddle Pattinson Starc/Harris Lyon It actually does look stronger with Watson down at 6 because he often gets scores around 50 and then departs.. Whereas I think Marsh is the type of player who when he is in, is able to cash in.. But the success of Australia's summer I feel relies heavily on the performances of its senior batsman- the likes of Ponting, Hussey and Haddin need to step up their game. If they do, then we will be in a good position.
PenPaperSports Posted December 18, 2011 Author Posted December 18, 2011 Add in Cummins when fit and it's looking ok!
PenPaperSports Posted December 18, 2011 Author Posted December 18, 2011 Yeah - Also, Tom Triffit is a very tidy keeper from Tasmania. Watch for him!
Pak_Fan_4_Eva Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 We will revisit this thread when the Indians make mincemeat of the Kangaroos in their backyard. After the 2003-2004 series - Steve Waugh's career was over After the 2007-2008 series - Adam Gilchrist's career was over After the 2011-2012 series - Ricky Ponting's career will be over :cantstop:
tothepoint Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Got no openers? Greats on the verge of getting kicked out? Injury galore? Any problems? Just invite Indian cricket team.
RickyPonting Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Great days for Aussies and Pakis. :hysterical: :haha: :giggle:
