Patiala Peg Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 No I could not and I actually wrote to those who make these rankings and as expected they shut up. But as I had said you have promptly began your response with the typical ranting and raving that I'am dishonest ' date=' liar, mercenary and what not. You continue this again and I will actually take the abuse to the next level. Guaranteed.[/quote'] I fear for my life my friend..please daya karo hehehe....for I know your type very well. zen Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Common sense can substitute for a need for proof :--D
Jersey #10 Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 you can take BB's help no problem...he is like Guruji to all :two_thumbs_up: help in what? :hmmm:
zen Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 the big problem here is Richards career never lasted 20 yrs ... SRT has already played almost 6 yrs of more cricket and he is still 8 months younger than what Viv was when he played his last match and ofcourse Viv started after Sobers retired. Does it need to last exactly 20 yrs (Richards approx. 18 yrs) to show atg batsman can make the required adjustments? and i guess it doesnt count if viv retired in 91 and SRT debuted in 89 Sobers retired in 1974, Richards debuted in 1974 but per you since viv started after sobers retired it doesn't show an overlap .... Ok that's quite believable Assume that Srt retired in 2007? Would it show he would hv failed to adjust in 2012? But since * Richards career lasted for 17-18 yrs and I used 20 yrs to illustrate my point * sobers retired in 74, Richards debuted in 74 but after sobers retired, it doesn't show over lap my theory is false One more hole drilled into an argument by BB :--D
Jersey #10 Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Has anyone introduced dumdumdigadiga to my work on Virtuosos? Aww come on guys, you can't allow such an opportunity to pass by. Feed him with the stats, pseudo-stats, and what all else is available in it, I say! He obviously hasn't been introduced to either one. You do the honors or I will
Lurker Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Does it need to last exactly 20 yrs (Richards approx. 18 yrs) to show atg batsman can make the required adjustments? Of course. Don Bradman lasted 20 years hence his obsession :--D But yeah DB lasted 20 years, lost many his greatest years to Wold Wars and even after WW never registered anything less 70 plus average in a series. The midget of course has been huffing and puffing for runs for eons. That being said, what a retarded thread from a top class joker. Nice to see this going places :two_thumbs_up:

Vijay.Sharma Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 He obviously hasn't been introduced to either one. You do the honors or I will Alright I'll do it me-self. Dumdumdigadiga, here is everything you need to know about the Virtuoso Batsmen of Test Cricket - http://tinyurl.com/84yuhbh

It's now the time to sit back and see if the peanut sized brains of these chumps understand anything above RPT and other gems they have come up with :hysterical:

zen Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Not 18 yrs but 16 yrs and 8 months. So thats a difference of about 5.5 yrs from SRTs current career timespan. So you take 5.5 yrs away from today it would be in the middle of 2006 and that would mean skipping 2 worldcups a whole bunch of Tests ( more than 50 ) wont even be in the top 5 run getters and Ricky ponting would have a realistic chance of going past his tally of hundreds and ofcourse the WC win itself. Lets look at it a different way ... since Mid 2006 after having played the same no.of yrs as Richards and by the time he retires in about 2-3 yrs time he will come pretty close to constructing Viv Richards TEST Career AND ODI career. Just think about that for a moment and how lopsided the comparison is. Here are his stats uptill mid 2006. So in short Knowing the sort of of poster that you and your tribesmen are you would actually shout that out loud and hard. Especially since the WC trophy would be missing and a whole bunch of other stuff. Accuracy is a basic necessity in any stats work ... a difference of 2 yrs is a whole lot in this case. Let me try again: Bradman 28-48 Hutton 37-55 Sobers 54-74 Richards 74-91 Tendulkar 89-present (also assume retired in 2003) Sehwag 01-present The above shows that ATG batsmen hv been able to adjust to the challenges presented to them. So how does SRT playing more invalidate the above? Are you suggesting that Richards, who was also playing when srt debuted, would not hv been able to adjust to post 2006 standards or wouldn't be successful if he too debuted in 1989? Say SRT had retired in 2003 (after12-13 years). Sehwag made his debut in 2001 in SA. So are you suggesting that we cannot imply that SRT would not hv adjusted to 2011 standards based on how Sehwag carried on?
Vijay.Sharma Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 ^ your statistical work is by far the best I have ever seen. kudos to you' date=' continue doing the good work[/quote']Thanks! For the third version I already have some improved ideas - for example currently minnow:regular weightage is 1:0.5 but in the next version I am thinking of introducing a sliding scale till they turn fully regular so minnow goes from 0.5 to 0.99 and then finally becomes 1. I also thought of introducing a sub-section where within era comparisons are made. So maybe I'll have 4-5 groups...in the first group Hobbs, Bradman, Hammond. In the 70s-80s group there will be Gavva, Viv, Miandad, and Chappal. But that will include lot more work so not decided if I wanna do it....problem is I izz not a good software programmer so dunno how I can automate some of these calculations....currently doing in excel sheets using pivot tables. If there are any other ideas you think that can be incorporated to make it better please feel free to share them with me. Thanks!
Lurker Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 I think my signature should put this thread to rest now as to who is Greatest.
