Needforspeed Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Given the choice I would have preferred a series win or draw to Sachin's 100 and I am sure that Sachin would too. The series is lost anyway and looks like 4-0. At least let us hope for some joy in Adelaide thru a Sachin 100. A kind of consolation prize. He deserves it.

For you may be but for me everything's immaterial rest of the series. The series is over and Tendulkar and Laxman can go and slam triple hundreds for all I care in the last Test. Wouldn't mean much coz when the going got tough our legends went missing - both in England and Australia.

Ultimate_Game Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Its comin at Adelaide.. He can shove the ton where the sun doesn't shine. It would be one of the most irrelevant milestone ever given the circumstances.
special K Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 He along with Dravid, Laxman and Sehwag should all be dropped after this series. The thing is, it wouldn't surprise me if he got his 100 in Adelaide. Then you'll get Indian fans saying he can still play on. These players are past it now. They're still capable of the odd great innnings in 10. Doesn't mean he should stick around. Tendulkar flopped last time In England and Dravid did well. The reverse has happened here. Their age makes them too inconsistent. If these players were Aussies they'd have been retired after the England series.
Ultimate_Game Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Leave him alone Why? He gets all the kudos when team does well and is revered as "God" by some of his fans, so when he failed to show up when it mattered shouldn't he get some stick as well?
saneindian Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Worst thing will be if he is named in the ODI squad tomorrow. He should not play the ODIs having skipped the WI and Eng ODI series earlier. Let Rahane be given a run in the side and the experience of playing on those wickets.

He should not play the ODIs having skipped the WI and Eng ODI series earlier. Let Rahane be given a run in the side and the experience of playing on those wickets. He should not be anywhere near shorter format squads other than the IPL circus and should seriously think of hanging his boots in Tests as well. Anyone can bash bowlers at home - a batting lineup of Mukund, Kohli, Rohit and Pujara will do just fine - and no point in having him in Tests at home.

Singham Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Will u shut up people? He is the highest scorer in this test series for India and u people are blaming him for not scoring a hundred?...!!! He is the best we have got. stupid people

He is the highest scorer in this test series for India and u people are blaming him for not scoring a hundred?...!!! He is the best we have got. stupid people Highest scorer with an average in 30s doesn't mean much, does it? There are threads lambasting all the other players - Sehwag, Gambhir, Dravid, Laxman, Dhoni and the bowlers - so why should Tendulkar get a free pass? His performances were nothing to write home about and deserves the stick he's getting.
Singham Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 ^^. Oh come on people. He looks very fit, and he is in great form. Unlike laxman, dravid, sehwag who batted like tailenders.
Ultimate_Game Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 ^^. Oh come on people. He looks very fit' date= and he is in great form. Unlike laxman, dravid, sehwag who batted like tailenders. What great fitness and "form" are you talking about? The same form which hasn't gotten him one big innings in the last 10 Tests? At the end of the day it's runs which count, not intangibles like "form", "good touch", "technique" etc. I would gladly take a big knock any day than great form and good touch anyday. The truth is Tendulkar hasn't done much since WC when we were counting on him and others, especially for Eng and Aus series. He hasn't come up with one game changing knock even though he had a few chances. He got in, looked good and threw his wkt away for an irrelevant score. At Melbourne he could have imposed himself on the game when we were 214/2 but he blew it. Same at Sydney where he again got out while looking good. Every time he looks good, goes into his shell either waiting for Tea, Lunch or the new ball and gets out. To you that may mean something, to me not much. In fact he has failed to even last a session in most of his knocks since the WC.
Singham Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 ^^okay, But don't forget he is the best we have got. U can't deny it. He is still the highest scorer for india in this series. U can't take that away from him. People would say give chances to youngster in place of sachin. What did kohli do in this series so far? Did he outscored sachin? nope. Even the youngsters can't replace sachin. But the same can't be said against laxman or dravid. They can be replaced by our young guns. Alright, sachin didnt scored a century, but name me one youngster who can replace sachin and outscore him? Rohit? rahane? Leave him alone people.

His best definitely hasn't been good enough this series or in Eng and it's time to blood in youngsters like Pujara, Rahane, Kohli and Mukund. No point keeping him as for the next 2 years India play at home and hopefully that should be enough time for the youngsters to come into their own. Youngsters can replace Sachin - Kohli has looked the best batsman this Test and has looked better every innings he has played. I expect the same from Rohit whom I rate higher than Kohli.
Singham Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 ^^Do u contradict urself here bro?. U just said looking good does not matter if he can't make runs. Now u r saying Kohli looks good, but don't forget he have not outscored sachin this series. Why should he be dropped when he still has lot to offer? Laxman and dravid should retire as they look unfit and out of touch. Sachin still has lot to offer, we should be thankful to sachin that he is still playing for us.
