I lost respect for them when they racially abused Makhaya Ntini. And they just do not know where to draw the link. So it was about time they got some back. Kohli got fined but 50% match fee hope he is motivated to score a friggin 100 by this episode. C'mon man. If you are a Punjabi, show it with your performance, not just your words and fingers.

And it was a bit funny to see him complaining about abuse, given how he politely reminds his opposite numbers, crowds in Delhi and the umpires about their mother and sisters :D

His reaction was how he chose it to be however, and I won't fault him. As long as he took the fine like a man, and not whined about it.

Basically, what under_score is trying to say is that in Punjab we dont promote 'listening to rude comments from people, then not giving it back straight away for the sake of professionalism.' It is in the blood to fight back, give it back or just can't take it. This attitude has both ups and downs. Obviously, at the highest level, you should show more professionalism. I don't know about other Indian players but Kohli could not take it so react back. In my opinion, he has not done anything extra-ordinary, just showed a finger. He has not gone out there holding a bat to fight with the crowd (just like Inzi did who is another Punjabi). But, we also has to keep in mind, for people who r just finding excuses to scold Kohli (basically, i m very surprised to see comments here against Kohli and his being Punjabi), that it has not affected his performance, at that time, that was fielding. He had saved atleast more than 50 runs in the field, so how did it affected his performance? :angelic: And his batting is yet to come

To us adults' date= people doing that are just kids who can be provoked by any tom, dick and are laugh worthy. True tough men in real life dont behave like spoilt brats and dont react in this way. If he had shut them out with a good performance, that would been different. Now he played into the crowds hand by reacting like a teenager. Crowd got what they wanted. Kohli got fined. Now wherever he goes to play, expect the crowd to always taunt him I am seriously telling you Mr MTC, that I can provoke you and make you mad like hell in just 5 mins. Then, your maturity paani bharti nazar aayegi. But, I won't do that coz I know my limitations on ICF and you won't do that too coz you know your limitations too. Then, why blame poor Kohli. He showed maturity too there by reacting in limitations. Just showed a little finger thats it, in a reaction to a mad bunch of crowd who were continuously abusing him and his family. He could have stopped the match and ask security people to throw those mad dogs out of the park. And you are right, only young guys play sports, not uncles like you. And young guys can do such mistakes. You can just keep on whining over your 2 cents but you will never get it back :haha::haha:

The same crowd will then be forced to applaud a man they cursed and who showed them the finger in return. I just start hating him now a lot, he doesn't look like a sportsman anywhere. He has become an uncle who can't move at all. If being obnoxious and acting like a moron is being Punjabi, then it doesnt reflect well on the people from that region. Anyhow, other people have already mentioned that this guy has behaved like this in the past. I remember one incident in England, in the IPL and several other times on the field abusing other cricketers and umpires. The match referee would have been aware of his behavior in the past and slapped a fine on him. I would imagine if it was a one off incident, they would have been much more lenient and I think if he repeats it again, he may well get banned for a game or two which may affect his career negatively. I dont think attitude like this, especially playing in the test team should be excused. If he still thinks he should show off his "Punjabiyat" he should quit the Indian team and play in the Ranji team for Punjab for the rest of his life.
