Virat Kohli has been fined 50% of his match fee after he was seen gesturing to the crowd with his middle finger on the second day. The level two charge was laid by the match referee Ranjan Madugalle on the third morning of the SCG Test. Kohli went to the hearing along with manager Shivlal Yadav. He pleaded guilty, India's media manager GS Walia, said. Walia added that the matter was closed as far as the Indian teamwas concerned. India had a long second day in the field, with Australia piling up 366 runs for the loss of one wicket. When Kohli was posted on the boundary, he said he had heard abuse worse than he ever had in his life. He posted on Twitter, "i agree cricketers dont have to retaliate. what when the crowd says the worst things about your mother and sister. the worst ive heard" Kohli found a sympathiser in Kevin Pietersen, who replied to his tweet thus: "ha ha ha haha!!! Welcome to Australia buddy!!":haha: To which Kohli replied: "never heard crap likethat. EVER:hehe:" Pietersen went on to tell Kohli that the Australian crowds are such that they abuse even their own when they start losing:cantstop:. Kohli began the third day on a more positive Twitter note that said, "New day new beginning! :):finger:" 140911.2.jpghttp://www.espncricinfo.com/australia-v-india-2011/content/story/548089.html ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Recently Liverpool striker Luis Suarez was handed a one-match suspension and fined ޣ20000 following his gesture towards Fulham fans. suarez2_2095419c.jpg similarly Kohli should have been given one match ban What do you think?

Lets see what Dhoni says now..
More excuses... where is the accountability for ones actions - he is an adult isn't he... Heres some more that might help... given the state of this test there is a need for a lot more excuses, and kholi, the hot head poor sportsman he is, will need some. When the payment is over due: 1, the cheque is in the mail, I sent it I promise, it must be Australia Post; 2. I lost the decision and couldn't remember how much to pay, my dog ate my homework; ......

A couple more: It wasn't me the crowd made me do it.... Oh hang on he used that one :haha: There was a ghost and he held my finger up... it wasn't me, its not my fault, why is everyone picking on me, must be racist..... What a loser, take responsibility for your own actions tool. Aussie crowds are rough sometimes, but take a look at the Indian crowds, some of the trash spoken to opposing players in India is hair raising. Take a look at some people's comments on here to see examples B->

He must be suffering from a rare hearing disorder where he is unable to hear his own speech.

50% Match fee, well then let him show it one more time and take the other 50% too. Do it once more, get banned so Rohit can have a chance

I would do the same if the crowd said the same thing to me. I cannot tolerate if anyone says something very very offensive to my family member/friends/pets.

If the crowd really abused Kohli, we can understand why he did what he chose to do. Understand, but not condone. But the larger fact is that Kohli is a full of himself jerk who abuses people for the heck of it. In the series against the WI, he abused an umpire ( an Indian one at that) because he was given out. When later asked, he said that he thought he was wrongly given out. Many players are given out wrongly, do they all abuse the umpires? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlZ0tFzRBpM]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlZ0tFzRBpM[/ame] There is nothing 'brave' in this. And these incidents are not one off. During the IPL he abused a group of fans. Not because they were taunting him, but because they were cheering for the other team. And there are many such instances. Having said all that, he still is a good player. Maybe he should just stop being such a prima donna.

But to some posters here it's slightly different...to them' date=' they r upset that their ancestors were treated like dirt by the white man..how come they are not getting the same respect today..they would despise any other Indian who shows the middle finger to the whities..:cantstop:[/quote'] I think people do not realize what goes in cricket grounds ,In india when we have matches there are abuses hurled at opp players but in india most grounds people are a little away from fielders so they do not hear it or most of them ignore,But in australia people are near the action so there abuses are heard,Kohli has a history of using bad language and dissent so somebody else says somehting and its hurts he should think when he is hurling abuses it also hurts the other player.
