India-KXIP fan Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 The Big 3 must go There achievements over the years are magnificint but after 37+ years age anyone can become ordinairy and they just have not delivered like they used to. Sure the others wernt great but we cannot continue like this. We have lost wickets just when a fightback seems to begin. We have England touring next year, by that time the 3 would be even older. We need yougsters in the side now and they all should get many chances not just 1 or 2. Kohli showed great talent and so did Umesh this game which was good to see. Indias future Test XI should be: 1. Gambhir-Im sure he will work hard on his weakness outside off and come good 2.Rahane- Played well in England ODIs, has talent and a good Ranji record. Needs to be given chances to adapt to conditions overseas. Needs many chances Im sure he is a test level player 3. Pujara- Has good technique, seems like a test player. Played well in England with India A. 4. Sehwag-despite whats said about him being a flat track bully he has made centuries in SA, Eng and Aus. We must keep faith he has the ability. Sachin had a lean patch 5 years ago aswell. He does not do well agianst swing in tough conditions, maybe at 4 the swing would be less. We may miss the fast starts though. 5. Virat- Today is enough to show he is a tet player. 6. Rohit 7.MSD- But I hope we find someone who can bat overseas better than him. Maybe try Uday Kaul. 8. Ashwin- Good allrounder 9. Praveen- Played well in England and wings the ball both ways. Irfan can come in if he fails. 10. ZAK 11. Umesh Zak can play another 2 years. Ishant has bounce and pace, he hasnt played enough first class cricket. He needs to learn to take wickets. I hope he plays a season of county and pitches the ball up more. Im sure in the future he will fill in for Zak and become a good test bowler. This is my first post, I rarely post in a forum but I just cant stand watching India lose this badly and needed to express my thoughts on what needs to be done.

Yes since we only have home series the aging Sachin may continue for a year. But atleast VVS and Dravid should go. Dravid is 39 now!

And what has it bought us the last 8 overseas Tests? India has won 6 overseas Tests in the last 3 years(from Jan 09). 2 of those were against BD. One was on that road called Premadasa. Off the 3 other wins, only Hamilton was a quality batting effort(we scored near 500 I think). This was in March 09.(nearly two years back). The other two wins, Kingston & Durban, our bowlng won the match. In Durban we barely crossed 200 in both innings and in Kingston we again scored only 498 for the loss of 20 wickets. Sachin should try get his milestone out of the way and hang it up. Nobody will have the gall to drop him, but this will be one of his better gestures to Team India. Ideally, SRT gets a couple of 100s in the tri-series(so as to get 50 100s in ODIs, otherwise he might hang on for that!) and retire...

I'm sure he can. It's in the interest of the team. For example, Dravid has been getting 30s & 40s in this series. However, if hypothetically Rohit Sharma had played and scored 20s & 30s it still would have served India better, for the future. The point is, even if his replacements don't perform as well as he does now, they must be in. Why? Because, these guys have to retire someday and i think waiting for that is basically short term thinking IMO.
