gaurav92 Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Thats what I meant when I wrote Trinidad :((
Ultimate_Game Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Don't know about upsets but there are 2 games which really hurt... 1. Against WI in late 90s when we had to chase 120 in the 4th innings to win in WI and we failed. 2. Chennai test against Pak in 99 which we should have won had our tailenders managed 10 odd runs between them or if SRT had stayed in for another 2-3 overs. That was the best knock SRT played and it's unfortunate he ended up on the losing side. Other than these two I don't remember a loss sticking for long.

Ultimate_Game Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 world cup 07... and personally Sydney test too Sydney test didn't hurt or upset me due to our performance. That was a different thing altogether thanks to incompetence of Bucknor. As for WC 2007 it was bad but I didn't feel as bad as in the other 2 instances. But yeah WC 2007 would come close and maybe at 3 on my list.
Sir john Posted February 7, 2012 Author Posted February 7, 2012 arrey ICFers meri di choice maain seeh eek chuuunoo :hitler: choose from first post icfers.
adi B Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 tbh the loss against the zimboks in leicester was a big blow for india to reach the semis, india would have gone to the super6 with 2 extra points had they defeated zim, so if we had won vs nzl in super6 we would have reached the semis
Ultimate_Game Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 arrey ICFers meri di choice maain seeh eek chuuunoo :hitler: choose from first post icfers. Before this thread I didn't even know India had lost to Kenya twice :haha: But if I had to pick one of the three choices t would be the Leicester one - 99 world cup loss to Zim. IMO loss to B'desh in 2007 was a bigger upset as Zim team of 99 was a pretty good team with players like Flower bros, Alastair Cambell, Neil Johnson, Murray Goodwin, Brandes etc. in the team.
akshayxyz Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Losing to bangbros in 2007 :(( This. And Semi Final against SriLanka in WC1996. Next one would be WC2003 final.. Not exactly upset, but it was some thrashing I would never ever forget, for more reasons than one.
rabinjackman Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 biggest upset was when superstar Jogi was dropped from National squad :sniffle:
Sarkar Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 2003 world cup final cried for two days It was our trophy we beat all the teams we faced except Aus.
akshayxyz Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 2003 world cup final cried for two days It was our trophy we beat all the teams we faced except Aus. no crying shrying here.... but it was memorable for me. I was on client site in Korea, in a remote city.. all alone, and I guess it was sunday.. also my b'day eve.. I followed all the league/super-six matches over cricinfo... so built up lots of expectations for the final. In another city my other group of desi friends had bought some online-live-cast package...only for the final.... and I had figured out some online radio-commentary.. It was so heart breaking....IIRC after the match ( when it was virtually over) I got drunk and played online games for hours... The positive thing was, I had to spend next week working with Koreans, not even a single desi around, so no depressing post match discussions or such thing.
ganeshran Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 The 2003 cup was during my board exams but I still followed all matches. The final was lost in the first 10 overs itself - poora KLPD ho gaya.
bulbul Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 1996 world cup Semi watched @ a friends house 1 km away from my home.. came crying all the way cursing the People for throwing bottles at gorund and stopping match...thought for atleast a year Kambli should have won that match :hysteical: As a neutral - 1999 WC semi between OZ and SA
bajrang Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 that sharjah match where sanath scored 189 something was the worst. i was not expecting our team to crumble like that. in worldcups we usually lose after defeating pak. so not much care.
singhprakash72 Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 1987 WC Semi final loss to Eng...it was bitter to lose to a very average English team.
