achilles Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Ponting forced to retire. Dravid is retiring. But Sachin deserves to decide when to go. :protest:
rkt.india Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 I got excited? but what was there to get excited?
PriyankaSR Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 but what was there to get excited? Well, Lemme think about it. Maybe because SOME PEOPLE ARE SAYING MY SECOND-MOST FAVORITE PLAYER SHOULD RETIRE WITHOUT GETTING HIS 100TH TON? Umn, I think that's all.
Ultimate_Game Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Well, Lemme think about it. Maybe because SOME PEOPLE ARE SAYING MY SECOND-MOST FAVORITE PLAYER SHOULD RETIRE WITHOUT GETTING HIS 100TH TON? Umn, I think that's all. Don't you think it would be better for your 2nd favorite player to retire than score the 100th ton against B'desh in Asia Cup? If Dravid retires and Laxman is dropped, as he should be, it will allow Tendulkar to play Tests till Eng series later this year. But his time in odis shoul be over.

It'll be hyped just as much. If it had to happen against England it would've happened in 2011. 2nd favorite player? He has a name and it is Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar. I'd prefer to listen that.

They don't want Tendulkar to be laughed at by the likes of Tony Greig, Vaughan, Chappell etc. "Of course he scored the 100th 100 against B'desh after struggling for more than a year to score one against Eng and Aus" 2. Others are putting the team before a player. There's not much to be gained from SRT scoring his 100th ton. After all it wouldn't do much for his legacy and wouldn't be considered a better batsman than what he's considered now on 99 100s. However, by allowing a youngster to play instead now would allow the team a much better chance to be settled before India tours away in 2013. No point in SRT playing at home, get his 100th ton and then retire before the away series and we go through another 0-4 debacle. We have seen just now what it means not to have blooded youngsters at the right time by going 0-8. Do we still make the same mistake and lose a few more series in 2013 as well? You may be ok with that as long as SRT gets his 100th ton but I, and others like me, want the team to come first and prefer a stronger team and better results than a 100 from a player.

That's exactly why I said, it is human behavior to think about yourself. About the bold part, I am definitely NOT like you. I understand what it must feel to hear people say that you should retire when you can make history. Tell me that **** if you are reborn as Gandhi.

Ultimate_Game Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 I have said what I wanted to' date=' take it as you want.[/quote'] No I get it pretty well, i.e., SRT is above Indian cricket and if Indian cricket suffers as long as SRT gets his 100th ton, so be it.

PriyankaSR Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 And lets not fight please? You are keeping your point and I am keeping mine.
Ultimate_Game Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 And lets not fight please? You are keeping your point and I am keeping mine. When was I fighting :omg: I haven't called anyone names, nor did I swear at people and nor have I abused anyone. So how am I deemed to be fighting I am simply responding to your posts and stating that people you are so upset about for asking for your 2nd favorite player's head are doing so coz they put the team ahead of players and would rather have a stronger team and better team results than an individual player with another gaudy stat to the detriment of the team :dontknow:
Raghav_12 Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Ponting forced to retire. Dravid is retiring. But Sachin deserves to decide when to go. :protest: If Dravid hasn't been forced to retire like Ponting, which you seem to be suggesting, then he himself decided on the time of going and that is the same option which has been given to Sachin :dontknow: So which one you believe, a) He has been forced to retire b) He himself decided on time to go?

I wonder if any Australian fan would ever have thought that what Gavaskar, Manjarekar and Shastri would think of Ponting if he does some particular thing. We keep preaching that our players should have very hard nose attitude in field but when it comes to us, we quickly resort to see the world through the eyes of few arrogant westerners.

I don't really care about what Messers Greig, Atherton, Vaughan, Chappell etc. think but in this case the criticism would be valid. I don't want SRT to get a 100 against minnows like B'desh or Zim. If he has to score one, he should get in the Asia Cup final or the tests that he might play this year. Scoring a 100 against the likes of B'desh will leave a very bitter taste in the mouth and would reinforce David Warner's parting shot at india "I think they will find form soon when they play B'desh next"

I myself won't enjoy it much if it comes against BanglaDesh. But this has nothing to do with Greig , Atherton and that whole bunch.
Ponka Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Sad to see idiots valuing 100th 100 more than Team India.
