hari504504 Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Has been at the back of my mind to get a Canadian PR Question to the North America located ICFers Specifically in the Finance/management consultancy/market reporting/business intel Is it really bad even for the permanent residents ? Some of the things I heard today about it - 1) Persistently ask for 'Canadian experience' 2) Discrimination (?) 3) Lack of opportunities compared to US is understandable - but how bad is it ? The internet is filled with mixed views on it, can't seem to draw a reasonable conclusion.

zen Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 How successful you can be in Canada depends up on you. The questions you need to answer are: 1. How good I am in my field? 2. Can I compete with Canadians with similar work experience and more local knowledge? 3. What value can I bring in for Canadian companies? 4. If I don't get my desired job immediately, am I willing to fight it out? 5. Do I see Canada as my long term home? If the answers to those questions are positive, you don't have much to worry about. You could check with Canadian companies to see what qualifications you need, for example, in the finance field, you could be required to take necessary certificates in Canada. I am sure you understand that it is not easy to come to a new country and be successful straight away. That is one of the reasons, why there are mixed reviews on the internet .... The most important thing is having the proper status and having PR is good enough. The rest is up to you.
