Tendulkar_Bhai Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 With the team at it greatest low in a decade with no hint at any changes in tactics/players will we see any major changes if the team loses on Saturday? Surely our poor form over the last 12 months is not down to talent simply picking the wrong players and not having the correct mind frame or approach during the match which must lie with MSD. Another thing which sticks out is the selectors saying during the England tour it was MS who wanted Jadega as a replacement during the ODI's when someone like Pathan was the natural choice. Is he really that blinded/stubborn as to a players ability or sees good things in practice which is never replicated during the game. For example Munaf has averaged 27 over the last 2 years in ODI whereas PK has averaged almost 40 , so why pick PK?! Same with Jadega. MSD is one of my fav players but as captain we wont improve, look at Aus and how long their "transition" period lasted, whereas ours is not even as great, we have lost Ganguly and Dravid over a 2 year period, they lost an entire team but still came back
Magneto Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 Dhoni will remain the captain till he willingly steps down. He's had a great run and we don't need a kneejerk reaction resulting to a greater mess.
Ultimate_Game Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 No matter what happens Fletcher has to go. I have failed to see what he brings to the table and 1 year is a pretty long time. The lard of blubber just sits there doing nothing. I say go with someone younger like Stephen Fleming who was a pretty good captain and will at least be of some use with tactics and planning.
hari504504 Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 MSD is a fairly irrational ODI skipper these days - gone are the days of brilliant Dhoni in the CB series we won ... an Asia cup exit from the hands of Pak would be the last straw I believe. He should be axed from the test team too. Not for Fletcher though - lets see how he works with the new captain.
pensionplan Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 How about Tendulkar as an ODI player? He might have singlehandedly caused India to get to the final by pacing himself to get to the century underestimatng BD and thus setting 20-25 runs less.
Number Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 "Coach is not supposed to bat , ball and field." But someone tell me why we have been a completely diff team since his arrival when we haven't changed anything except coach.
hari504504 Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 If we win the Asia cup.. Tendulkar has one more chance to really retire on a high.. else.. it could be a Kapil-esque exit not befitting the man.

Jersey #10 Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 Blame Sachin b/c others are not paid to play for the country and are not required to perform. They are just there as 10 bodies to fill up the team of 11.

ZodiaC Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 Or even if we win the Asia cup - does that make this losing with Bangla bros even? Just wondering.
hari504504 Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 All is forgiven if we beat Pakistan twice !! that has always been the rule ..
saneindian Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 Much as I want MSD to go, your initial post has so many factual errors. Pathan wasn't fit for selection during Eng tour. Munaf has been out of cricket due to injuy and not due to performance. He is making a comeback post his recovery (ankle surgery) and will be back the day he is fit for international cricket. In general MSD's captaincy tenure has run its course and we do need a change now.
Turning Point Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 All is forgiven if we beat Pakistan twice !! that has always been the rule .. This.
pensionplan Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 Blame Sachin is your policy.No. Not really. I am a hige fan of his as opposed to a fanatic. His yesterday's deeds to get to the ton is a strange display of batting I have seen in a long time. Told me how much he was hell bent on getting to the personal landmark in a team game and even fans have limits. I mean the true fans.

Ok so he played a bit slowly but do you think its justified to blame just one player for a defeat (especially the one who was the highest scorer in the team) when the bowlers bowled so badly that Bangladesh was able to make 290 easily
veer Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 nah... IPL is starting right away.. BCCI will be busy kicking that off..
