Well in that case Adam Gilchrist also should also be a 12th man captain in IPL 5. 4 matches, 59 runs SR 107.27, average 14.75. No better than dada.
The difference between Gilly and Ganguly in this format is the one between a brand new Rolls Royce to that of a used up Chevy. Gilly comes with a pedigree of winning an IPL leading an underdog unit with the DC and to this day much fitter than the lazy Ganguly ever was in his career. No one wanted Ganguly as of last year(KKR cut him and no one drafted him in the auction) only for him to beg his way back into the IPL late last year. We are all finding out Ganguly on the bench is much better for the PWI than on the field and the wins that came happened despite him with no contributions with the bat or on the field. Gilly behind the stumps is still an asset and his spirit and leading by example rubs off on his teammates a stark contrast to the bum Ganguly who cannot even bend to pick up a firm push properly. Come on now.

just love u mate..u seem to have an inborn hatred for srt and ganguly...and since last 15 years..every time ganguly fails, u come with renewed hope and passion to spew garbage and misdirected venom and as has been written many times, ganguly makes his usual comeback and being the shameless nutbag that ur..u still continue to spew garbage...care to check the performance of all the captains in this ipl...(the runs and the sr) before u go on and on abt performance of ganguly in particular here are the stats http://www.hindustantimes.com/Specials/Cricket/IPL/Chunk-HT-UI-IPL2012-TopStories/Tests-or-T20-skippers-in-the-line-of-fire/SP-Article10-841631.aspx and your exemplary gilchrist...look at the stumpings and catches he missed... ganguly in all of 5 matches has given away 8 runs due to his misfield..so stop shouting yourself hoarse... i find it funny that pune's supporters are behind ganguly, while the opponents are crying themselves hoarse about dropping him.

LOL... All I can say is you might want to consider changing your moniker or handle. And one more thing if at all you want to present stats and make a point atleast have them accurate and current.

Ideally Gilly should be out of IPL as well despite him beiing more viable than Ganguly even today, but that is not saying much. Gilly and his IPL stint overall(4+ years) is in a different zipcode altogether than that of Ganguly and he should not tranish it and much like Warne hang it up. That is my take on that. The only reason I went at length about Gilly is to show that there is no comparison between the two(since someone tried to compare the two) when it comes to the 20-20 game despite your hilarious and failed attempts to compare a WK to that of an unfit fielder.

the last few matches ..none of the skippers (except dravid) has really played any better...which makes the point still valid that ganguly is not the only person who has been pulling his team down. in none of the matches, did ganguly jeopardize his team's chance. he hasn't scored many but did not waste a lot of balls. he hasn't fielded well but has managed to hide himself well in the filed (2 misfields in 5 matches costing his team 8 runs...). however, put any other player as captain in the team, i can gurantee..pune would have lost the mumbai and csk match. that being said i agree, that he is not really a good fit for 20-20..but perhaps a lot of this criticism comes bcos of his stature as a batsman in other forms of the game. if he was an unknown domestic player..no one would take notice.

If Ganguly is not performing what does 'other' captains (Dravid' date=' Gilchrist) not performing got to do with it? :dontknow:[/quote'] except the fact that no one seems to point that out..its made to look as if ganguly is the only non performing captain...i have no problem if a thread was made analyzing every captain or batsman. ganguly has failed as a batsman until now as has many other captains. if the criticism was limited to his batsmanship, then it is a valid one. but it smacks of prejudice, when only he is asked to step down as a captain bcos of his non performance. if this call is made after ipl with pune doing poorly, then the jdugement could be passed that ganguly is holding back the team. right now similar criticism could be passed at many other players.

say what you want about Ganguly... he is better than Yuvi, not only did Yuvi not perform but also none of the 4 terams under him did anything of note in the IPL............... Some consider Yuvi a loss for PWI but I think its a blessing in disguise.....

Not every fan is man enough to admit that Ganguly "can fail" and "has failed". I understand where you come from but you can't add to the problem and hope to solve a solution.

lets jsut wait and see how pune finishes in this tournament...his decision making and leadership is a contribution to the team's cause. it doesnt mask the fact that he is not batting well. however if pune does well, it ud be right to criticize his batting but prudent enough to accept that his captaincy played a pivotal role in pune winning.

I agree - lets wait and see. But, just a final point here - I definitely think it's worth mentioning his role for PWI winning but I won't single it out as the only reason. Just like the good decisions, he makes a lot of blunders too. These things sometimes are masked while winning and hence, easy to overlook.
