Brainfade
are always a good read. Concise, organized, with a good bit of cricketing theory thrown in. http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/columns/content/current/story/305838.html Link to comment

The Outsider
Chopra is spot on in his assessment as far as my personal experience goes. The first time I faced a quality left handed medium pacer was in university and had a terrible time against him in our practice sessions. Our coach suggested exactly what Chopra talks about and it helped quite a bit. Link to comment
The Outsider
To elaborate a bit more, as a batsman you always want to face the ball in as straight a trajectory as possible. The natural angle of the left hander means standing a bit open. Link to comment

King
It is true you have to be slightly open in the stance to play the left hand bowlers simply because they run in from a different angle. In fact Rahul Dravid is slightly front on even against right hand bowlers bowling from over the stumps. You can see both the feet is not usually aligned in his stance. He pushes his front foot a touch behind than the back to stand a little open. Karthik did similar adjustment against Sidebottom after he struggled against incoming delivery in the first test. The Outsider
They just showed on Sky, how Karthik has opened up his stance since Lords against Sidebottom to avoid the ball hitting the pads and meet the ball with a straight bat. I am sure Dravid, Tendulkar etc. also make these minor technical adjustments which are not alway obvious on TV. Link to comment
