Morkel went for 37 in the match vs KKR in Pune. As always on ICF, the guy who is not in the team becomes the best player. The bad decision was to decide to chase in a high pressure game. But I dont think it is Viru's decision alone. Russel went wicketless ,what DD need was Murali Vijay's wicket,morkel being highest wicket taker could had made the difference
saneindian Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Morkel hadn't done much in the last 5-6 matches except for doing well on a grassy pitch at Dharmshala. He got spanked in the last match he played at Chepauk. Also, his replacement Russel did fairly well IMO. The problem was with Sunny Gupta's selection. DD kept playing nadeem and Nagar in the early rounds and were doing well. For some reason, changed the squad for the knockouts and were never the same team again. happens to so many teams in a long tournament when they peak a little too early. And for all of you crying fixing, those were exactly the words used by Lankans and other India haters when SL made 3-4 changes for the WC final (due to an injury to Angelo Mathews). I am sure you lot agree with those morons in saying that the WC final was fixed too.
