S=G , we know reality , we are not like PTI supporters. All these ally talk is fine in theory , but first BJP need to be strong. Just see their top leaders, none of them inspire any confidence in cadres. Same old TTF's. If ground level workers doesn't have any confidence in top leaders no party can survive , we can debate here in internet but we are not the people who are decisive in these elections. Every party need a face, whether its polarizing or anti polarizing some one need to lead the people. Do you really think BJP right now have any other charismatic leader in top level who can inspire its own party workers ? If you only think about allies and not at all think about party how party will survive. BJP is @ cross roads , this election will decide it's future , even if they failed to form govt its fine , but anything less than 150 will be a big blow for party.

Good. Leave it to the states. Centre shouldn't have such powers in a large country like India anyways. From Modi's speeches' date=' he actually seem to be in favour of greater federalism. Forward thinking states shouldn't be handcuffed because of the cowbelt and the shitistan that is Eastern India.[/quote'] Best solution will be to declare Gujarat as an Independant nation and Modi can become PM of Republic of Gujarat.. :yay:

how about coming back to ground realities and realizing that such major amendments cannot happen without 2/3rd majority in Parliament - Cong, where the Gandhi family has flourished by never letting any regional leaders grow in stature, will never support this.

I can clearly see the ground is being made to cover up the impending failures of Modi at national level. So if public doesn't votes for him (as if sala he has some 'baap ka haq' to win election)' date=' the public is chewtiya, fool, or uneducated bumpkin... :cantstop:[/quote'] You misunderstand me. My view of a leader of a country is similar to a coach or team manager. He can't fix it for you but he can certainly break it. Hell, I couldn't be farther away from a "bhakt".

That is what you are hinting at right? So am I. India hasn't hit the valley yet, so climb is a bit farther out in the future. IMO another congress term is necessary to wake the Indian public up and put some sense into their puny little heads.

when I said 2/3rd majority I meant that such measure need 2/3rd majority which means getting opposition support for such measures - something which Cong will never accept.

Exactly. Congress is a virus that needs to be destroyed. Until that happens, forget everything else.

I'm not banking on an Indian Spring, rather the size of the middle class reaching a critical size (in addition to urbanization). That is the only way the muslim ghettos and the rural vote can be marginalized.

Until that happens' date=' forget everything else.[/quote'] BJP, with a presence in only few states, has to get power at the Centre if it has to grow as a National Party and right now its position is such that it needs pre poll allies to get good number of seats in many states. Only if BJP becomes a major force in many more states can it really diminish the Congress's presence and that cannot happen by taking a long term view because at this point if BJP is out of power for another 5-10 years then its very own existence will easily come into question.

Pussyfooting will lead to BJP becoming a Congress front (Jaitely types are already serving Congress) as well. You need someone at the head (lymphocyte) who will treat Congress as a foreign body and will relentlessly attack (antibodies) until the demographics are in their favour. That is the only way to finish off Congress.

surajmal - Interesting perspective. What do you think is the best way forward for the country? In particular, do you think that *ALL* politicians who try to used *ANY* religion should be sidelined?

Hmmm - I don't think any particular religion/community should be given more advantage over the others. But, I don't have a definitive future perspective for the country per se. Looking at your posts, you seem to be having one and I like what you are hinting at. I would just want to know more.

That is my thinking. I'm not anti socialism entirely but in case of India, I do have a socialism phobia as this system of governance/economy is not a rational choice. You ruin any chance of a better future and with overpopulation, you end up failing miserably in an attempt to address the present.

I am a bit unsure on it - I don't think people in the present time should be neglected completely. When you say create, what exactly did you mean?

Minimal resources. Too many mouths to feed. Sacrifices are going to have to be made. Hard decisions will have to be taken. You can say that I'm being disingenuous since I don't have the worry about the things that majority of the country worries about daily. But that is precisely why it is going to take someone who is not myopic and selfish. If someone (preferably the leader of the country) could explain the bottom line to these people that If I take step A, your misery (on a scale of 1 to 10) would drop to 8 from 10 (and even that maybe unlikely) while your kids will be on their own. However, If I take step 2, your misery will remain at 10 but your kids' may drop to 5 or further below, I guarantee you that 9/10 will go with Step 2.
When you say create, what exactly did you mean?
Create Wealth. Move the domestic industry (across the spectrum) higher up in the value chain. Yada yada. Pre/Corequisite to this is the creation of a knowledge economy. R&D (along with high quality post secondary education) has to be made a priority.

If middle class doesn't reach that magic mark, India is headed for a civil war and further breakup.
