Tiger80 Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 This U 19 team do not look like a champion team
Ultimate_Game Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 This is embarassing now. From 139/0 in 26 overs to 216/5 in 46, i.e. 77/5 from the last 20 overs with barely a boundary. And this against Zimbabwe
Ultimate_Game Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 We have lost 4 wkts to short balls this innings. Neither can we score against short stuff nor can we manage to keep our wkts when faced with short bowling
Old guy Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 But I don't see a decent prospect other than Chand from the current lot. That's a bit disappointing. It almost seems I am looking at Indian team from 90s with Chand playing Tendulkar's role. ur taking this tournament way to seriously man :cantstop:
Ultimate_Game Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 In the last 5 overs (at the death so to speak) we have managed 17/3 :haha:
Ultimate_Game Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 ur taking this tournament way to seriously man :cantstop: It's u-19 world cup of the only sport we take seriously :dontknow: If we struggle against minnows here as well it is a bit embarassing. I mean if Brazil u-19 team crashed out against the likes of New Zealand in a World Cup all hell will break loose. And here we lost to WI, hardly a world beating team, in the opening match and struggling mightily against Zimbabwe in the do or die clash. I think a little criticism is only fair at this point.
JaFanatic Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 vijay zol should have batted earlier anyways we can hopefully defend this total!
Ultimate_Game Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 WTF was the team doing hiding Passi til the last 5 balls when apparently he's the only hitter in the team? Why send folks who struggle to get the ball off the square when Passi managed to score 24 off just 5 deliveries? To put things in perspective, India managed 98/6 between overs 26 and 49, going from 139/0 in 26 overs to 237/6 in 49. On top of that India only managed one solitary boundary between overs 38 and 49 and passi comes along and smashes 24 off 5 deliveries with 3 6s and a 4 :omg:
Ultimate_Game Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 vijay zol should have batted earlier anyways we can hopefully defend this total! Zol like the rest of our middle order struggled to get a move on. Don't know what he would have done at 3. We should have promoted our hitters up the order in the slog overs and we may have finished with a much higher total.

Ultimate_Game Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 what passi is he an all rounder or what Doesn't matter whether he's an all-rounder or not. In slog overs you send out your hitters who can get you quick runs and looking at the way Passi played, he should have been promoted up the order to come in anytime after over #40.
jind Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 lol Passi with a couple of lucky shots gets India to a respectable score. They def'n needed that. Atleast 4 Indians out to the short ball trying that pull shot:P Zol should probably player higher up the order. Kalaria and Harmeet dropped for today's game. Passi and Ravikant in their place. I thought Harmeet bowled quite well in the last game... I suppose Mishra is rated higher by the team management. Btw, that leggie Zimwa from Zimbabwe looked good

It's not too much to ask for the team to do decently well, i.e. at least make it to knockouts past minnows. If BCCI doesn't take it seriously then don't send the team to the World Cup. Simple. But if you are sending an Indian team to the World Cup I would expect them to take it seriously and have a certain expectation from the team. I was fine with them losing to WI but come on, against Zimboks surely it's not too much to expect the Indian team to win the match easily.
JaFanatic Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Doesn't matter whether he's an all-rounder or not. We should have promoted our hitters up the order in the slog overs and we may have finished with a much higher total. so failing to hit out in last few overs means he cant be good no 3 ? his all good innings have come when he came in early on u said ir urself failed to get move on but he did score good hundred in asia cup while chasing didnt he ?
Ultimate_Game Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 chand is a young captain he'll learn things from these experiences:two_thumbs_up: I was actually blaming the coach, not Chand. Surely the coach has more say than the captain in under age tourneys and the coach will have more info about the players than say the other players. so failing to hit out in last few overs means he cant be good no 3 ? his all good innings have come when he came in early on u said ir urself failed to get move on but he did score good hundred in asia cup while chasing didnt he ? Then that's another one against the think-tank or the coach. If Zol can't hit out then he shouldn't have been saved till 40th over. Maybe Passi and other sloggers should have been promoted up the order.
