] Zaman and Shoaib Mohammed were two extremely slow batsmen for Pakistan. Cant remember seeing anyone like them, aside from Chris Tavare perhaps.

He made considerable progress in the next game, racing to 7 off 36 balls, even hitting a boundary! However his opening partner Rizwan scorched the turf scoring 4 off 62! Sarcasm aside, I would cut some slack for this batting pair. They were opening against Marshall and Gray, who can easily lay claim to being one of the most dangerous new ball attack in ODI history. Macco and Gray have career strike rates of 45 and 28 respectively! The same Windies side took on India 2 weeks later at Sharjah, a game I watched entirely on TV. http://www.cricdude.com/scorecard/India_West-Indies_1986-11-30 Lamba and Vengsarkar managed to score just 2 runs off 31 balls against this bowling attack. Lamba had weeks earlier hammered McDermott and Reid and Vengsarkar was the best batsman on the planet! So in that context, Shoaib and Rizwan surviving 98 balls against that pair is actually no mean feat! [i expected Vengsarkar to make a meal of that 199 target but he was utterly clueless against Marshall :) ]

It must be decade or so since someone mentioned Tony Gray. Tony Gray is a forgotten hero of West Indies stable. I personally thought he would be the next big thing after Marshall. Too bad he got injured often and was replaced by Bishop. What a terrific bowler for the year or two when he was on song though.
