India vs NZ 1985 B&H Championship Semi Finals

A big game for both India and New Zealand this one was. India was undefeated and had won all their round games. The 1983 world champs were well on their way to yet another coveted ODI trophy win but this one did not come that easy. India after having bowled really well had to come up against the likes of Richard Hadlee. Richard Hadlee bowled wonderfully well but his competitor Kapil Dev took Richard Hadlee apart in this ODI to win this one for India. India fell back a little on the run rate but thanks to a 30 ball fifty from Kapil Dev the target was achieved quite easily in the end. Vengsarkar and Ravi Shastri also chipped in with 50s. Richard Hadlee almost got Kapil Dev out with a slower one only for John Reid to drop a tough chance. Kapil Dev in particular was very severe on Richard Hadlee. Often I've seen Kapil Dev raise his performance when he had to come up against his all round competitors Richard Hadlee, Ian Botham and Imran Khan. Kapil Dev sure had a knack of producing his best when India needed it desperately.
