ICL sues BCCI

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the link Zubin. I was infact wondering this morning if any of the 'banned' players could approach the courts against the life ban. These players do not get paid monthly salaries by the BCCI, they get paid for actual match days; in case a player is free and does not have a BCCI game to play, what can stop him from playing for someone else. Its not as if they are not fulfilling their commitments to the BCCI. It will be interesting to see what stand the High Court takes now.

Good on Zee. I am enjoying every bit of the humiliation BCCI is facing and will face in the future. Specially baffling was the decision to cut off players' pension.
Yes, stopping the pension is about as low as you can stoop. These are retired guys, who gave a lot to Indian cricket. If they want to stay busy post retirement and do what they want to do then let them for heaven's sake. Stopping the pension smacks of arrogance and misplaced ego. Shame on BCCI for that.

This is what the BCCI affidavit claimed in the 2005 lawsuit,

In 2005 in its case against Zee Telefilms the BCCI affidavit said ''No monopoly status has been conferred upon it either by statute or government. Any other body could organsie any matches on its own and neither BCCI nor the government could oppose the same. BCCI has no monopoly over sending teams overseas and to control the entire game of cricket in India".
Is this going to bite them back or not!!!:haha:

Seems like you people have not read this article: BCCI registration under scanner Sukhwant Basra Tuesday, August 21, 2007 08:50 IST NEW DELHI: Even as the BCCI meets today to change its memorandum, rules and regulations, the very ground on which it has been ruling Indian cricket has come under legal scanner. A PIL pending in the Madras High Court alleges that the BCCI has tried to overcome procedural lapses in registration of amendments made to its bylaws by going to the extent of reregistering a 56-year-old body all over again. The BCCI was registered in Madras on November 28, 1940 under the Central Legislation of the Societies Registration Act, 1860. The body and its Memorandum, Rules and Regulations stood deemed registered when The Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act, 1975, came into force. A fresh registration was given by the Registrar of Societies, Chennai Central, on September 25, 2006 to a body called The Board of Control for Cricket India all over again.
