Rohit S. Ambani Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Its awesome, I don't understand lyrics. But Namo Namo Namo Namo Matha means Mother we salute Thee! The song was written and composed by the Ananda Samarakoon, who was Rabindranath Tagore's student and the tune is influenced by Tagore's genre of music. The first line of the anthem originally read: Namo Namo Matha, Apa Sri Lanka. There was some controversy over these words in the 1950s, and in 1961 they were changed to their present form, Sri Lanka Matha, Apa Sri Lanka, without Samarakoon's consent. Ananda Samarakoon committed suicide in 1962 apparently due to the change in words. :omg: I don't have hidden love for Lanka, that's why I researched how come they have good anthem, finally Tagore connection answered all my doubts. What a legend. I found Namo and Matha very catchy mostly cost they mean Narindra Modi and Mother in Indian perspective.

Sachinism Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Hate the anthem. Had some of the loudest Lankans with nasal voices singing behind me during the WC 11 final. It was quite unbearable
Cricket_Guru Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 its annoying. by far the best anthems are Pakistan's and India's. Not too long nor small. and a passionate touch to it. God save the queen got to be the smallest + wor****
Tiger-Don Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 I have respect for all countries and their anthems! Anthems r not meant for entertainment, but to represent a country.....Now i have to admit that India has the best anthem out there!!! Bangladesh is in 2nd position without a doubt!
