We may win this series....but against australia, we are f*cked.. Batting you need luck, bowling you need luck..but fielding you need desire... What a pathetic fielding unit....We all know Ganguly is slow, he was always slow so we need to hide him and anyways he is too old to change now.....but what about 25 years olds...Munaf..sucks.. Powar sucks...RP sucks.. what the hack...drop them...we need players to contribute in atleast one other department.

Very Very true, fielding excellence cannot be achieve without tremendous effort. But even with 25 year olds will struggle unless they are taught how to field at an very early age....

Cause we are sucking mighty big in the dept he is responsible for.
We are not sucking because of him that's for sure. He needs raw materials to work with. With the likes of Ganguly, Munaf, and Powar he can only do so much. We were a half decent fielding unit last year with Kaif, Raina, Pathan, and Agarkar, none of whom played the last ODI. That's almost half the side and is bound to show in the results.

Agree. And our fielding was not bad in the test series. We dropped fewer catches than England. In ODIs, he simply has no talent at his disposal for the kind of game it has become. Look at the team we fielded in the last ODI : 1. Ganguly, Powar, and Munaf - No hopers 2. Tendulkar and Dravid - Work hard and are safe but have never been more than that and never will be at 34. 3. Yuvraj and Chawla - Did well and generally do. 4. RP Singh and Zaheer - Don't have the fielding basics, international cricket is not the place to learn basics, no matter who the coach is. 5. Karthik and Dhoni - Have underperformed, Robin Singh deserves to share the blame for them.

There is nothing like luck kabira. Every department of the game requires commitment and hard work. If you think only fielding is letting down us, then the answer is no. We have been robbed of the victories because of batting, fielding and bowling.
I disagree. We lost the 3rd ODI only because of terrible-terrible fielding and extremely toothless seam-bowling. Also, 5 of the 11 batsmen can't even hold the bat. So if a couple of main batsmen fail, our chance is gone. Otherwise also, it is extremely difficult to win the match with the performance of just 6 batsmen after completely messing up in the field and bowling extremely incompetently throughout. What to talk of Australia, any ODI team even a little competent can defeat us easily. 3 scores above 280 in a row---when did England achieve this before?? This team has been slipping alarmingly in the fielding department with every passing match. Something has to be done here, and if that means sacking all the terrible fielders, no matter how good a batsman or bowler are they, then so be it. The fielding was just disgraceful yesterday!!

You're forgetting Bhajji who is an excellent fielder.

So with two department of the game in shambles, and the third department depleted just in an attempt to strengthen other department, we'd lose most of the matches whether bat first or bowl first, isn't it?? Still, I think we gave 45-50 runs away in the match due to sloppy fielding and dropped catches. Batting still caught up as much as it could, even when 3 of the 6 batsmen failed.

>There is nothing like luck kabira. Every department of the game requires commitment and hard work. you did not get me there apo. Inspite of commitment and hard work there is something called umpiring error, you may very well can get bad decision while batting, same with bowling..you might get pitch of a delivery or as a bowler you bowled pitch but fielder dropped it...so there is certain luck factor in batting and bowling.. But fielding there is not such restriction. Its in your hand..no external factors.

Abey.. Robin ko kyun drop karenge... He can even train Aloos...but what can you do with this huge Watermelon?? How can they select such a joker yaar... How do you expect him to field yaar?? Kabs... Good thread. IMHO, we need to set a standard and drop them based on that standard. So be it SRT, SG or MP or RP.. If they dont meet the standard, drop them. I am sure if we save 25 runs in the field and dont drop a catch we will be better off. Here is comparison. Scenario A 2 bowlers @ 5.5 in theire 10 overs 110. 2 bowlers @ 6 in their 10 overs 120 2 bowlers @ 7 in their 5 overs 70 Score of 300. Reason: 1. A catch dropped and a guy went on to score 40-50 more runs.. 2. Bad out fielding.. leak about 15-20 more runs....Net effect of 25 runs given away extra in every match... Scenario B: 2 bowlers @ 5.5 in theire 10 overs 90. <---- Net effect of better fielding. 2 bowlers @ 6 in their 10 overs 110 <------- Chose the best fielder who will give away 60 in 10 and bat a little bit like IP, or Bangar....I am just throwing the names... 2 bowlers @ 7 in their 5 overs 80 <---SRT or Yuv... .. Scored 280 runs Reason: 1. Now runs got reduced not because bowlers are any better but that only catch offered was taken 2. a lot more pressure on batsmen to penetrate in fielder to score runs or steel that extra run. 3. It will take the toll on opposition. At least they will sweat to score the runs which they were taking them for granted. 4. AND BEST OF ALL, we get an extra batsman...or two...
