dial_100 Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 So how can I have a business running somewhere in India and government doesn't know the whereabouts. I mean how is it possible. Can someone explain to me? If there is a business then, isn't it mandotory for them to file tax returns every year. Isn't there any communication from government angencies for audit and other regulatory purposes. If that system is not in place then why do we ever talk about being 4th largest economy in the world. If a business/person can exist without government knowing what it really does, how are we any better than banana republic. Seriously :hysterical::hysterical: These politicians do not want to change anything in this country. Few checks and balances can eradicate corruption by many folds. We have largest strength in terms of manpower and IT services then such things need to be implemented. High level of automation can easily take care of such issues. Why the heck these news companies need to go to 20 different addresses to find out if the business exists there or not. Shouldn't governt take responsibillity of keeping records of all businesses. Companies should be severey sentenced for providing wrong addresses. Something like confiscating the assets and holding the owners entirely responsible. What areas you think can be included other than the businesses like schools and so on.

Well, through someone I know - once his father and friends, a group of businessmen (small time, but still making decent money) - approached/asked/had-some-conversation with some IT (income tax guy), they (IT folks) themselves didn't want everything to be legal/on-paper, as it would affect the under-table collection - which is supposed to be directive from higher ups... Now, we can't generalize it to every other IT guy. but more or less, that is how it is in India. People who have power to ensure enforcement - majority of them want the system to be the way it runs...only which allows for their extra incomes. And that is the story of every society doing through development, coming/descending from a generation when having 3 square meals a day was a privilege (which still is for a significant loss)... a judicious use of power (and the responsibility that comes with it) - can not be just learnt/implemented just from books.... such mindset changes few decades to change - on society level, as a whole....
Crookbond Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 Sigh! Another story of the attitude Apna Kaam Chalta Toh Bhaad Mein Jaaye Janta plaguing the nation. :((
