The data, shared by the home ministry in response to an RTI query filed by TOI, shows that 10.6% of Gujarat's cops posted in police stations are Muslims. This is higher than the proportion of Muslims in the state's population, which is 9.1% (2001 census).

I don't think we need to discuss how much percentage of a religion.caste gender etc is in what type of service in a state. For example if there is a state where there are 15% muslims but most of them are businessmen and there percentage is 5% in police force ,then may be one the reason is they may not be interested in police force

Just to elaborate on the above post, there are roughly 83 Lakh muslims in Kerala. That means about 41-42 Lakh male muslims. Assuming 50% of them constitute working population = 20.86 Lakhs. Now there are about 5 Lakh Kerala muslims in UAE, prorating it to other GCC countries, it might be around 15 lakhs in total.

Agree..I had a school buddy from Kerala and even though he was Hindu... he used to say that Kerala was nick named as 'miny gulf' ....this was a few decades ago...may be things have changed now.
More than forty percent of UAE population is constituted by Indians. Out of that more than 50 per cent by Keralites. 56 per cent of them are Muslims
