SachDan Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 BUMP. A stat on his Birthday ... Highest Scores in a innings and most career runs are the 2 most important records in cricket for a batsman. No cricketer other than Boss has ever held 3 out of possible 4 ( 2 in ODIs and 1 In Test Matches ) in their career. Not so impressive :regular_smile: where's the 401? :hmmm:

Bublu Bhuyan Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 I'll open my heart out and admit something. I've developed an inferiority complex - simply because I love Boss so much. I can't stand the fact that he hasn't got a Test triple hundred. I know that many will argue that it's not a parameter for greatness, and even I agree. But I just can't convince myself. I still day dream that maybe Boss will take over Lara record of the highest Test score in an innings someday. And that's the most unlikely thing to happen. Simply because not only Boss doesn't have a tendency for big 250+ scores (he does have a tendency however of getting 150+ scores, got 18 of them, I believe), but it would require special circumstances for it to happen. A batsman needs to bat for a lot of time to achieve something like this, and India with already so many good batsman, probably can't and won't afford to give one particular batsman so much time no matter what. If it has to be done, it will be done sacrificing the team's interest, and that is something Boss will never ever let happen in his presence.

I think these coming 2 years are going to be special. We have a world cup and then tours to all top cricketing nations - An innnings by Goddy to win us the match in the 4th innings in a away match - i am wishing too much, but what the heck - I somehow feel this will happen. Sticking my neck out.

There are only 4 Aussie players EVER who made more runs than Boss while batting at home after 30 inngs. And only 2 of them DGB And Walters had more 100s than Boss at the comparative stage. Infact there are only 20 aussies who have scored more 100s in Aus than Boss. This stat tells you all you need to know about batting away from home. But I should have posted it on the test match stats thread. :P But heres a phunny ODI stat ... You will need 8 Bangla batsman to make the amount of runs Boss has made in his ODI career ... (They will take 325 more ODIs and score at a strike rate slower than Turtlepaul but hey you atleast got the runs :winky: ) :D awesome bossbhai

While these are great stats for Tendulkar, the Aussie players would have played their 30 innings in a shorter time frame meaning when they were in their initial stage of their career. For example Ponting's stats in the first 30 innings in Australia are only from 1995-2000.
