well sachin is a batsman and zaheer is a bowler.. and they both did their job... not dominating doesnt mean tht he failed... he scored without dominating .. got it?

Correction- only ONE did his job. Zaheer bowled well, got almost 20 wickets in the series with below 25 average against England's strongest batting lineup (or one at near full strength, missing only one bonafide batsman in Tresco) while Tendu had a very mediocre series against England's second string bowling attack, lacking 3 of their starting bowlers. No, both didnt do their jobs.

Sorry but having less than 250 runs in 6 innings and an average less than 40 against a second string English attack, where no seamer has even 50 test wickets to his name, is not scoring- with or without domination. That is simply stinking up the joint.

My questions get answered first, chump - which batsman has been retained by his team without averaging 40 in 7 of the 8 most recent series ( or more) against decent opposition ?!? Can a mind-numbingly and context-less stat cruncher like yourself find stats for that or are you going to pass in your typical way ?

CC makes some fair points. Tendulkar faced a second string English bowling attack and batted well only in patches. No real sign of consistency. Even his innings at the Oval looked laboured, while other batsmen were scoring comfortably. I had been calling for his axing from the test team and currently, i am still not fully convinced about him as a Test batsman.

Yes, like my context. Kumble has 1 less innings and 64 less runs than Tendy- but Kumble wasnt dismissed twice (adv. Kumble), batted far more with the tail (adv. kumble) and scored a ton (adv. kumble). Thus Kumble did indeed have a better series with the bat than Tendy. But hey, IIRC, YOU are the inconsistent one in your argument- you know Tendy has stunk up the place recently and his average is pathetic, which is why you suddenly comment 'such kiddish arguments as averages' but you use the same precise 'kiddish argument as averages' when debating Tendy vs Lara because lara has more runs/innings than Tendy. A little bit of consistency and or a little bit of carefulness in masking your obvious double standards and unbalanced perspective is in the order, especially if you wish to engage me.
