He is the greatest to have played the game. His last innings in an ODI was a very good 50. He still had it in him. You all wanted to him to fail and not play and you got your wishes. As soon as one person achieves too much' date= everyone gets jealous of him.
Extremely true of us Indians!

An average of 31 in 10 matches since the World Cup. The one century he scored was a disgrace against Bangladesh off a million deliveries on a patta and resulted in India getting kicked out of the Asia Cup. Sure, nothing wrong with his ODI form. I would be surprised if you find anything wrong even in his test form. Wasn't he supposed to shut up all haters? What happened to getting the monkey off the back exercise for which sacrificing a cricket match was supposed to be worth it because he would plunders attacks after losing the 50 kilos?
How did the rest of the Indian team do then? If a batsman is only as good as his last innings, and Sachins last innings was a solid 50 against Pakistan with Ajmal and co, what does that say? Why pick on Sachin when everyone else is also flopping? Because he's achieved so much, people don't like seeing a person reach heights, and want to see him fail. When he last went through his lean phase in 2007, a lot of Indian fans were doing the same thing, wishing for him to fail, then get dropped and then be forced to retire. It's sad but it says a lot about a country's fans when you see how they treat their players. You may say we should be like Australia and how they dealt with Ponting, but this is different. It's not just Sachin who has failed. But it's convenient to blame it on him, cos there's an obnoxious jealousy present for a man who has always behaved impeccably on and off the field.

Only a self hating Indian fan would put his team's inability to defend 280+ against Bangladesh completely to a batsman who scored a 100. There are players from all team who have done that once in a while when struggling for form. Yes, considering Indian team's form, he was not in the worst of form. You know an interesting thing. It's not Sachin fans who are demanding him to be given preference or treated differently. It's you. Sachins runs mean lesser to you that all 10 other players in the team for you because of his age and future potential. Btw this is gonna be an emotional thread so not the time to prove a point ( just like no manager is going to point out his employees faults on his farewell day) otherwise this can attract a lot of trolls from both sides and get nasty.

I Am as much a tendulkar fan as anybody. But he had the perfect oppurtunity to leave after wc 2011 ,It was bad to see him struggle in aus and the hundred in asia cup was selfish,But everybody is selfish when struggling we have examples of Gambhir ,Dhoni. Also if we cannot defend 290 against bangladesh we deserved to be kicked out.

If it were up to some people, Tendu would be playing till he dropped dead on the cricket field. :winky: Anyways, he is clearly on the decline in all forms of cricket. He is hurting the team than helping it in all forms. He has announced his retirement from ODIs, hopefully from tests as well soon.

My worry is that you, and most of the Sachin fans, are actually some of the sane ones and that the number continues to dwindle each year. Put it this way, most folks who have been critics of Sachin, are actually those who would be in Sachin's age bracket, give or take a few years. I think there is something to say here since this age group saw some of Kapil, Sunny, Azhar and so never took SRT to god like level. Those who did take SRT to god like level, like you, would most likely be younger to Sachin by say 5-15 years. This lot did not see much of any yesteryears great and so it was a case of 5 blind men checking an elephant and make deductions. Still the second lot is lot smarter than the one that came after. I am already dreading discussing cricket with those who enjoy Raina and Pathan and think T20 >>>>>> Test. Thats my worry. Greats leaving the game, morons getting access to keyboards :nervous:
