If he retired from test cricket they would then say he is holding a spot for a youngster in mumbai team. Quite frankly, he is a class act. He retired prematurely from ODI and I hope he reconsiders. I haven't given up hope. One a way from 50 tons in ODI and also about to break Gavasker's Ranji ton record. We should celebrate his success. In 2015 wc in Australia not many will be able to match his immaculate technique. I feel he wanted to play in next wc.

He is still good enough and I believe he would have been instrumental in our ODI crown defence. Particularly when opening is our weak point in ODI. I feel he was forced to retire to relieve some pressure and wanted to play till 2015. If I could fault him in one thing I would say skipping ODI's may have contributed to overall decline in form. As Ganguly said he should play all forms, keeps your mind fresh. He will benefit nothing from shredding ranji bowlers, he is much better than that. :((

No but the way some people treated him, so called indian fans and commentators was appalling. He should have been allowed his struggle. He had it in him to find his way out of it and indian cricket would have been better for it. Media led a very harsh campaign against him where he was vilified and the cause of all india's demise. I cannot celebrate when this is the way he was effectively forced to leave ODI's.

Honestly, there is no guarantee the cricket world will ever see a player of his calibre let alone one of indian origin. Not just this but he has served us so well since 1989. I cannot accept the way he retired from ODI. I still harbour hope that he will come back in ODI. BCCI are useless, not only did they screw up the selection and planning of our team, but they accepted Tendulkar's request to retire from ODI. Imagine a 50th ton during England series. It doesn't make sense to me. I think Sachin did this to prolong his test career but I believe the shorter format might have helped him gain his form back rather than over analyse.:((

As I believed all this time, he played for so long because he loves the game and his country. Just watch him when he is fielding, so much passion, this after playing so long! If I was BCCI President I would have rejected Tendulkar's request and come to an arrangement for a send off that is appropriate for him and his many fans. It happened in such a way I was in shock but that also shows it was a last minute decision by Tendulkar. I believe he felt it was a way to get some breathing space after the media campaign. Sad.
