As to me it seems that any coach has at least 1 hand tied behind theor back and cant implement what they want due to seniors power, captaincy power and BCCI president power. As any coach like Fletcher would have been much sticter then he is and demanded certain principles and ethos i.e 1. All players must be fit, no fatsos like sehwag or zak 2. All players must be on time and practice hard 3. No optional practice rubbish 4. Pick players who are commiteed etc including in their fielding and more and more It seems a coach of india is there to put the cones out and help them practice if the players want to practice.

maniac Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 We know what happened when a coach tried that last time.. That being said,In terms of playing politics Greg Chappell is not any different from powerful Indians but atleast he tried to promote fitness,etc among youngsters I guess.

I think padosis in a way are lucky to get Whatmore...non-contoversial and does the best with what he has like he did with SL and Bangladesh. Tom Moody seems to be another guy in the Whatmore mould but I don't know how media-shy he is.

Be on time, train properly, be a team, be fit, eat well, field like your lives depend on it etc etc No coach is allowed to impose the right sporting culture in india. They have to be subservient and not rock the boat, even if a player is totally unproffesional in their preperation and approach to the game

King Tendulkar Posted January 22, 2013 Author Posted January 22, 2013 Stories of team turning up only 45 mins before the start of play against england in tests, not doing warm up properly etc etc There is no way in the world Fletcher would want thi,s as he is big on practice and puctuality and perfect preperation. Yet with indian teaam he seems powerless to do anything.
