you cant complain that for someone avrging 50 when you have a team full of 85+ 90+ sr with one batsman having the highest sr in the format. but yes he can still improve it :agree:

Yup' date=' Rayudu's great "finishing" skills are apparent from his List A average of 32 with just 1 hundred from nearly 80 matches :haha: I would take a poor man's Trott any day over such a great "finisher" :giggle: Between if the whole batting lineup comprises of finishers (Dhoni, Raina, Yuvraj etc.) [b']who exactly will bat through the innings and lay down the platform :dontknow:

Pujara should be there as well. He averages 54 in List A cricket and given the next WC is in Aus I would love to have him bat in the top 3. He's technically sound and will give our middle and lower order ideal platform to launch an onslaught and score big. You gotta keep in mind that in Aus a total of 260 is a winning total most of the times and you will need a solid platform to put up a decent score there else we will be out of the match in the 1st hour itself by being 30/3. Top order is going to be the key there and keeping the wkts in hand will be the key, and not scoring 100 runs in the 1st 15 overs.

tiwary should be in our odi starting XI he deserves a long run in this format more than the others :agree:

I have seen him in IPL, and he has been extremely rubbish.

Our bowling is the worst out of all test playing nations. We can't tuk tuk our way to 250-265 and then hope for our trundlers to bowl out the opposition.

And if we are expecting us to score 300+ in Aus we are living in a fool's paradise. In Aus conditions we will have to defend 260 or thereabouts, as you can't expect the batsmen to score 300+ in those conditions consistently. With the new odi rules kicking in (2 new balls, 2 bouncers per over etc.) it will be even more difficult to score big as every top team will have 3-4 pacers with a relatively new ball and bouncers up their sleeves.

You can't be sure of anything and that's why you give the chance to a player who has performed the best at domestic level. I mean you have Rayudu who averages 32 in List A cricket in 80 games with just 1 hundred and then you have a batsman who averages 54 with 4 hundreds off 35 games. Who do you think has a better chance to succeed? I would back the latter as at least he has shown ability to bat through an innings and make it count when set. You don't want a quick 20-30 at the top of the order in odi but someone who can bat through an innings and lay down the platform for middle and lower order. To me based on stats Jaggi seems the best bet along with Pujara and followed by Kedar Jadhav. At least these guys have performed at FC level and deserve to get a shot ahead of others in odis. In Tests Pujara, Rahane and Rohit deserve that chance but unfortunately our selectors select the odi squad based on IPL (T20) performances and Test squad based on performances in odis :facepalm: People need to understand that Tests, odis and T20s are differet formats with different skill sets needed.
