Vivek.S.123 Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 He can be a good ODI player.. Needs to raise his strike rate
Vanarp22 Posted February 19, 2013 Author Posted February 19, 2013 Needs to raise his strike rate His strike rate is already 75-80...
Vivek.S.123 Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 His strike rate is already 75-80... Needs to raise it to 85+ if he is to bat in the Indian top 7
Vanarp22 Posted February 19, 2013 Author Posted February 19, 2013 Needs to raise it to 85+ if he is to bat in the Indian top 7 mhm
Vivek.S.123 Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 mhm Sehwag, Gambhir, Kohli, Tendulkar, Yuvraj, Raina, Dhoni all have strike rates above 85.
Ultimate_Game Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Sehwag' date=' Gambhir, Kohli, Tendulkar, Yuvraj, Raina, Dhoni all have strike rates above 85.[/quote'] All the more reason to have a solid batsman at the top given we have plenty who can up the ante. With the next WC in Aus a solid start at the top is essential as we won't be able to win much if we are 50/3 every game.
MCcricket Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 I liked what I saw of him initially couple of seasons back but then also saw he is not too good against pace and needs to improve on his game and footwork, he does have some talent though

Ultimate_Game Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 I don't want a Misbah-like player in our team :orderorder::orderorder: Misbah doesn't average 54 at a SR of nearly 80, and that too as a top order batsman.
PBN Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Just looking at the overall strikerate may not present the whole picture. One needs to put it into context with respect to on what of pitches the player is playing. For instance, in the ongoing Vijay Hazare, the North Zone matches yield average scores of around 180- 240. In these matches, even a strike rate of 70 may win you games. Whereas, in some other parts of the country, we are seeing scores of 300 (Karnataka matches). Therefore, one really needs to put these stats into context to get the real perspective.
Vanarp22 Posted February 20, 2013 Author Posted February 20, 2013 He is just an average batsman. ODI avg of over 50 and FC average of 42 is not average
Vivek.S.123 Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 ODI avg of over 50 and FC average of 42 is not average Batting against domestic trundlers on extremely flat tracks :asleep:
Ultimate_Game Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Batting against domestic trundlers on extremely flat tracks :asleep: Against the same "trundlers" likes of Rayudu & Uthappa struggle to average in early 30s and likes of Rahane & Rohit average in mid 30s :giggle:
Vanarp22 Posted February 20, 2013 Author Posted February 20, 2013 Against the same "trundlers" likes of Rayudu & Uthappa struggle to average in early 30s and likes of Rahane & Rohit average in mid 30s :giggle: :two_thumbs_up:

Rohit and Rahane are playing in the wrong format 2. Rayudu is one of the best finishers in India 3. Ishank Jaggi is a poor mans Johnathan Trott
Ultimate_Game Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 1. Rohit and Rahane are playing in the wrong format 2. Rayudu is one of the best finishers in India 3. Ishank Jaggi is a poor mans Johnathan Trott Yup, Rayudu's great "finishing" skills are apparent from his List A average of 32 with just 1 hundred from nearly 80 matches :haha: I would take a poor man's Trott any day over such a great "finisher" :giggle: Between if the whole batting lineup comprises of finishers (Dhoni, Raina, Yuvraj etc.) who exactly will bat through the innings and lay down the platform :dontknow:
