Sehwag' date=' Gambhir, Kohli, Tendulkar, Yuvraj, Raina, Dhoni all have strike rates above 85.[/quote'] All the more reason to have a solid batsman at the top given we have plenty who can up the ante. With the next WC in Aus a solid start at the top is essential as we won't be able to win much if we are 50/3 every game.

I liked what I saw of him initially couple of seasons back but then also saw he is not too good against pace and needs to improve on his game and footwork, he does have some talent though

I don't want a Misbah-like player in our team :orderorder::orderorder:

Just looking at the overall strikerate may not present the whole picture. One needs to put it into context with respect to on what of pitches the player is playing. For instance, in the ongoing Vijay Hazare, the North Zone matches yield average scores of around 180- 240. In these matches, even a strike rate of 70 may win you games. Whereas, in some other parts of the country, we are seeing scores of 300 (Karnataka matches). Therefore, one really needs to put these stats into context to get the real perspective.

Batting against domestic trundlers on extremely flat tracks :asleep:
Against the same "trundlers" likes of Rayudu & Uthappa struggle to average in early 30s and likes of Rahane & Rohit average in mid 30s :giggle:

1. Rohit and Rahane are playing in the wrong format 2. Rayudu is one of the best finishers in India 3. Ishank Jaggi is a poor mans Johnathan Trott

Yup, Rayudu's great "finishing" skills are apparent from his List A average of 32 with just 1 hundred from nearly 80 matches :haha: I would take a poor man's Trott any day over such a great "finisher" :giggle: Between if the whole batting lineup comprises of finishers (Dhoni, Raina, Yuvraj etc.) who exactly will bat through the innings and lay down the platform :dontknow:
