I think most captains have an expiry-date upon which they simply run out of new ideas. That doesn't mean that captain is a bad captain or always was a bad captain. It's very rare, especially in this day and age, that someone can be a good captain for a period of 5+ years, unless you've got one of the all-time great sides. I think Indian fans tend to be too bipolar. Either someone is the greatest ever or they are terrible and should be buried alive. Dhoni was a good captain. I think it's time India start to look to the future though.

yes he has captained our team well for years but nowadays its really sad to see him run out of ideas thanks to the overdose of cricket. he badly needs some rest

ODI------yes T20-----no Test------average overall Dhoni have been ok. But failure to reach the semis in three T20 world cups in a row and the 8-0 away record plus a loss to England in 2012 in the tests means the gloss of the WC wins in 2007, 2011 and world number 1 have come off. I do agree that Dhoni has a horrible workload. IMO he needs to quit from T20 and give up the captaincy in tests and concentrate on WC 2015. I think another question is should we look at Dhoni in isolation or is in the Dhoni-kirsten and Dhoni-fletcher partnership which needs to be looked at? In the T20s we have a better record under Fletcher than Kirsten and the ODIs are about the same as well looking at win loss ratios. Test cricket is where the biggest hit is. If fletcher is replaced and a now coach and team comes in and India starting winning all over again, then IMO the problem was not Dhoni. It was fletcher.

He has captained India well overall no one can doubt that, the commitment it takes to play all 3 formats he has almost sacrificed his best yrs for team India. However his picks have been very poor at times, he doesnt have the proactive agressive mindset of Ganguly which is needed in test matches agains the top teams, ODI this is less important and natural talent and flair gets you where you want to be. As player he has been one of the best WK/Batsman of all time

lol what a stupid comment. If this happens it cant solely be attributed to Fletcher, other situations change, new bowlers are coming through who will be better by the time the next coach comes in, Fletcher has been a disgrace but your logic doesnt make sense.
