zep1706 Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Selecting Sehwag for SA is like playing with 10 batsmen, esp if he opens. They should try him in middle order before giving him the boot. But Dhoni is an inflexible stubborn character, so that ain't happening.
Gunner Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 My bowling attack in SA: Yadav (pace) Shami (seam) Bhuvanesh (swing) Zaheer (left arm / experience) Ashwin / Ojha
SLICKR392 Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Don't get your hopes up you former Anti-Kohli group member. Rahane is never going to open in test cricket. Wait and watch LMAO...WTF? Anyways..I'll pick Rahane as a middle order player though it won't do any harm if he opens but he has looked edgy against the new ball. If Gambhir's in good knick I would pick him over an out of form Sehwag. Long shot but we could have a go with a Tiwary or Rohit opening the innings. I would love to have a lefty against the Saffers pace attack as they did succeed but both Farhat and Jamshed looked more comfortable that Hafeez or Azar. Middle order should be led by Pujara. Not certain on how SRT might plan his retirement but if in good form then why not have him in the side? Has good technique against the likes of Steyn. Good experience for Kohli but I dont see him scoring big from the very start and might go on to score a ton on a dead rubber as he usually does. :giggle: Rahane or Tiwary should follow Kohli. Dhoni at 7 followed by Ashwin as he did well in Australia. Pacers should consist of Shami, Yadav and Zaheer/Ishant/Pandey/Bhuvi. I wouldn't mind having Nayar on the side on those conditions and Jaddu should be sent to any of those 9 planets during our oversees tours. Dhoni as a player should be in the side but not as a captain. My XI (including players twice according to their spot in the XI) Gambhir Sehwag/Rohit/Tiwary Pujara Sachin/Kohli Kohli/Rohit/Rahane Rahane/Rohit Dhoni Ashwin Zaheer/Bhuvi Yadav Shami/Pandey
Sidhoni Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 1. Jaffer is too old 2. Dhawan should play ahead of the Murali Vijay 3. Jiwanjot could be a option in the future, but its too early right now 4. Rohit is a middle order batsman, he will fail as a opener 1. That excuse is old. Even Sachin is 39, so what? He is scoring runs, thats all. 2. Agreed. 3. But he can be played in a home series or included in India A and sent to away tours to judge him. 4. Nothing is wrong in trying. He has been tried at opening in ODIs before.
Vivek.S.123 Posted February 27, 2013 Author Posted February 27, 2013 There are plenty of talented youngsters who can bat in the middle order, our openers are a BIG problem though
